Cussing and Movie Reviews

I like those Kirosawa flics, "Dreams" is a great one.

Sword of Doom is great too. (Not Kirosawa I don't think)

I really enjoy watching films a second time if it is good. You pick up so much more.

I am probably the opposite to Mick, I tend to rate a movie by not wanting to sit through it again.

Favourite films:

True Romance
Godfather (s)
Martial Arts Epics and the old school HK movies.
Big Lebowski (I will pretty much go out of my way to watch any Coen Brothers movie)
Zoolander

I tend to go for tv series over movies though these days. Having 2 kids and no baby sitters to call upon mean the cinema is usually and bi-annual event.

Netflix and chill it is then ... LOL

I think your right mate, been a long day and just got the kids to bed.

What I think I was trying to say was I will watch just about any film twice, unless it is Gash.

I really like the Count of Monte Cristo too.

Rio Bravo
Death Hunt
Unforgiven
The Big Lebowski
The Life Aquatic
The Royal Tennenbaums
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Kung Fu Hustle (not the dubbed version)
The Outlaw Josey Wales

Thats my list. I could do pretty well with just those films.

Unforgiven is amazing, one of the best westerns ever. This is probably a well known theme in the film, but to me, not only was it a great western but it was like Clint's career was coming full circle. In it, he's still the super badass gunfighter like he always was but the whole meditation on violence and what violence really means to people's lives and how violence should not be glorified cuz it is so awful in actuality, was illustrated beautifully. And him talking after the final shootout seemed so legit, "I've always been lucky with the order", and how realistic that shootout was, what with guns misfiring, and point blank shots missed by unskilled shooters in the heat of the moment. :drink:

Unforgiven was good, probably Clint's best. But My favorite western was Young Guns and Y.G. 2
They were age appropriate for me as in 1988 when introduced I was 29 years old.:)

I always like Bruce Dern in westerns. You ever see him in The Cowboys? Only guy to ever kill John Wayne on screen.

Another real good one with Dern is The Posse, with Kirk Douglas.

Dern played a great bad guy.

Another good one was Jack Pallance in Shane.

Dad always talks about the scene when he gets off his horse. He does it so slow and calculated it looks really menacing. Dad remembers an interview with Jack where he said he did that because he was terrified of horses.

Yeah, Shane ordering a glass of milk at the bar, absolutely classic!

I've watched the first scene of Gladiator and the last scene of Big Fish half a dozen times each.

That's where YouTube rocks. You can find any cool scene you like w/o having to watch the entire flick.

I've watched the final scene of Six Feet Under a dozen times at least.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids was a respectable western. But for good stage presence as a cowboy it's hard to beat Chuck Connors.

A few movies I've seen more than once would include Scarface, Heat, Carlitos Way, Goodfellas & Casino... there are others but these are definately amongst my favourites. I think I'll need to explore westerns a bit deeper...

Quigley Down Under by Tom Selleck was a entertaining western.
I loved that big old falling block sniper rifle....

He was better as Magnum PI. It was his birthday a couple of days ago, 71. Time sure goes fast.

It's a bit old now but The Wild Bunch was one of the best ever westerns, some top actors in that.

I don't watch many movies more than once because I go back/forward a lot so by the time it's over I've seen it about three times.

Apart from the no thinking shoot up ones that come up on tv I've watched Unforgiven, Josey Wales and Apocalypse Now a couple of times.

It was a Sharps 45 70 I do believe. One of my old mans shooting buddies has about 20 odd guns. He does a fair bit of black powder shooting with some of the classics. He has a Sharps. I had a little look at it a couple of christmases ago. It was one heavy rifle, and the slug was not far off the size of my thumb.

That's a nice looking rifle Rich.
Actually the rifle in Tom Selleck's movie was specially made for him
Shiloh Rifle Co. out of Big Timber, Montana built the 1874 Sharps into a 45-110 with a extra long barrel

The best 'feel good' movie that I've ever seen. The final ending scene is so sweet...
