As for the Beringer 1996 Napa valley special reserve, It is a good bottle of wine, but it suffers from the same malaise that is common to most overseas red wines.

An adhearance to Robert Parker.

That means going for substance and mass over elegance.

I prefer elegance in a wine, so while I'll gladly drink the Beringer, I'll be more happy with a light Oregon pinot noir

Or a French Bourgogne , if I feel rich.

I prefer Australian wines, sometimes I can find a good one from Argentina or Chile as well. Or beer... beer is good too. I'm on a Blue Moon kick right now. Before that, it was Heineken for a long time.
 
I'm still quit drinking, for the most part. I had a beer a while back - it was tasty. I tried a half pint of VO last week - barely got a buzz. I'll have a pint the next time, but that won't be anytime soon.
 
My wife bought a six-pack of Bacher (German Lager) at Aldi's yesterday. It's imported from Belgium. It tastes ok. She said it was cheap.
