Blocking down a spar. How do you do it?

Of course! A brush bed can take bombed chunks all day and still keep the ground intact. Maybe even... foam!

I have found this to be a lot faster than rigging down.

That's just making more work for yourself cuz now you have to go back and block down the remaining spar.

Like others I'll use all of those methods in appropriate scenarios. Maybe one that hasn't been noted is a salami/slash/diagonal/stumpjump type cut. I use it (usually with a wedge in the highside of the kerf in larger diameter wood) when rigging wood from an overhead point.

I usually snap cut small wood up to about 8",bigger than that i push with one hand,if back leaning,a deep notch and a pull rope.

I like the face cut pull rope for the larger stuff. It also depends the situation I have used all those techniques at one time or another.
