Here's a Euc someone showed me in Stern Grove, SF.

Easily 180-200 feet to the tips.
That first crotch is probably 80+ feet up.
Amazing tree. One of the largest in the area for sure.

I think a thread isolating cool tree pics would be neato.

Easy to find pics, not lost in Work pics.

Could one of you please tell me, what kind of cypress that is. If you know the botanical name, that would be good, thanks.

This is perfect! "Unofficial cool tree picture thread"

Last Thursday 8/14/08 I drove to Crescent City to meet with Mario Vaden, from the Buzz, for a hike into the Grove of Titans. It's not far from the Stout Grove, but much more of a hike to get into. And as much of a hike and beating down the brambles as it was to get to these trees I think the overall trip was well worth it.

These trees all have names but I'm not going to bother with them. What's in a name anyway. The trees speak for themselves. And it's not the fact that any one of them holds a record for their size or height, but the fact that they are all in the same close vicinity that makes it unique, for me.

Enjoy the views!

And then on the way home I stopped at Prairie Creek Redwoods and took a short hike through the Rotary Club Grove.

And here again is a concentration of large specimen redwoods in a relatively small area. 5 or 6 acres and no less than dozens of trees over 14 foot through. It was like a blind dog in a meat house. Every where you turn there's another tree that catches your eye.

Enjoy the views!
