The Official Work Pictures Thread

Here, its no always so easy. In Washington State, our Worker's Compensation/ Industrial Insurance must be paid, and the state handles almost all the WC, so they have people out inspecting worksites, etc. Any work site is their worksite, effectively.

Requirements for training, and reporting, etc.

You can always pay under the table, but if the guy gets a stick in the eye...

In the uk insurance is a free market, I can buy it from a number of providers, and they don't really restrict who I employ. If I hire someone off the street they will be covered for the stick in the eye, even if I paid them cash under the table.

Whatever happened to the land of the free? That is a serious question btw, I saw this on. FB the other day, it looks like your hands are tied in more ways than I would care for.

Socalist or not he didn't cook up all that ails America singlehanded.

Time and time again I'm staggered by the lack of personal freedom, 5 or 6 years ago I would have thought the USA was one of the last bastions, but spending time on here and having family over there has really changed my view.

I can hire anybody I want, except a minor, without additional paperwork.

I will get fined if I get found without insurance in force on the guy. A new hire also has to be put through the child-support system. Here, if you get behind no child-support payments, they pull your driver's license to facilitate you getting to work and making money!! I have to report the guy to the Worker's Compensation/ Industrial Insurance people quarterly. If they came by, sat in their car across the street and too pictures of the work site, they can then issue safety citations.

Say the new guy doesn't understand he has to wear his helmet while in the work zone. He is out of sight of me, he get's caught. That's a $1000 or $2000 fine for me, whichever, no leg pro for chainsaws is the other amount.

The temp agency guy I tried showed up asking if I thought this was going to be hard on his back, as he has a bad back. Skinny guy, too. I could try it again. Maybe with more advance notice and more regular work, I could get a decent temp worker. I"m not holding my breathe.

I see guys on the street that have the Will Work signs every once in a while, but always isn't the right time. I'd like to hire a guy like that casually.

If something happens, like a guy cases the house, and steals stuff. I could be on the hook if I didn't do a background check. Has happened where a new hire was a predator and attacked the wife (something like that at an ISA training).

Things we don't know, like having a written driving test on file, not just a clean driving record, is important. I just just just did one for me and my employee the day before the stroller into the street, and the guy cutting off the chip truck. Weird.

Some fun in the sun and the big black oak today... Day 2..... And I dropped the camera from about 70 feet ... OUCH

Looked at a Catalpa that was starting to split a few days ago, HO was worried about the neighbours brand new fence.... well... the split got larger, fast.... and with storms predicted in the near forecast.... needed to support the limb so I was able to remove branches safely. With a good pull from the maasdam and some help from HO's friends, it came down with no problems.

Here are before and after shots...along with one of the stump measurement. It was even bigger than I thought....and now the Brutherford can go by and grind that big rascal!

You need your brain checked if you dont think he is.

Some of you Americans wouldn't know a socialist if one bit you in the ass.
You think anyone to the left of Mussolini is a socialist.
We should take this to the political thread, anyway, so as not to pollute this one.

The scale on this tree is wild. Hard to even get pictures of the climbers in it.
Katy kept trying to get a picture with both of in the tree from away from the tree. All you can find are the climb ropes.
I'll probably go to town this AM and buy another camera.
