The funny thing about that knob... the guy that sold it to my buddy that I bought it from... said his dog used to stand on the seat and chew on the shift knob while he would drive around... he had replaced the knob 3 or 4 times...

Alright... went out today and was messin' around with a buddy of mine. Matt has a ridiculously fast 1972 Monte Carlo. We went for a little "drive" this afternoon, and had a ball... I built the 355 SBC in Matt's Monte... what a sweet ride, and it hauls ass too...

First vid... from my view driving... Matt passing me in his Monte...

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qe766hO9ZD8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qe766hO9ZD8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Second vid... is me passing Matt after a short while... with my window down... it sound like the truck is "cutting out"... but trust me... it's not. =)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hOTkfMfXPjE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hOTkfMfXPjE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Third vid... pullin' in to a rest stop on south Whidbey Island... you can hear the cam in my truck, and the sound of Matt's wicked Monte too...

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WFdm6AWdydQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WFdm6AWdydQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Man Gary, that's Badazzz!!! Love the old muscle, and love that bodystyle. (The truck's, not your's you weirdo. :P:P:lol:)

Sweet vids too man. Makes me miss WA.

One of my best buds in school, his dad bought a brand new 72 black monte.. I loved that car! Never did get to drive it though :(

Ohh boy did I date me in this post... HAHAHAHA

Wow, those are both a couple of sweet rides. They sound great, too. I think the cutting out sound may be from Youtube compressing the audio.

Nice rides.
What sort of BHP is your truck making Gary?

As to the shifter knob, its got to be an 8 ball or a screaming skull :)
A piston from a Briggs and Stratton or a beer keg tapper handle works well too if you're talking early old school American hot rodding . I imagine 350 Chevy engines will live on for the next 50 years or so in one form or another .

The Ford 8BA flatheads are at least that old and still can be found in limited numbers .

Good job on the Jimmy GAS .

Matt and I are plannin' on a road trip to a big carshow over in Poulson, Montana in the Summer. I will have the only truck goin'... so I will be haulin' a lotta crap over there for everybody... So I have some stuff to do to get ready for a long haul like that...

New wheel bearings front and rear, new u-joints, and stuff like that...

BTW... My dad called me yesterday... he has this cool old shifter knob that he made in high school, that he had in his '50 Plymouth. That would be a cool nostalgic touch to the old beast... :)

Nice rides.
What sort of BHP is your truck making Gary?

It's close to 400... maybe between 380 and 400... Matt's Monte is around 425. :)

Most excellent, Gary. Are you finished working on her?

Not by a long shot... I gots lots more to do... It's going to be an ongoing project. It needs new rocker panels, and has some rust hole in the floor tha need patching... Some spots inside the cab on the "A" pillars and in the kick panels are rusty too...

It will never be a "show" truck. I am going to be learnin' a lot about patch panels, and body work on this baby... :)
