How'd it go today?

Thanks reddog, there is some copies of the page layout and such there, I can take advantage of that. Doesnt have the images though, better than nothing!

50 mph winds right now blowing hard off the Pacific.
Waiting to be called in for a failure at work I'm sure.

So, Here's the picture of the failed spar yesterday.
Have you ever seen a more disgusted ground crew?
Like WTF Dude? I understood they were a little sour.
Considering the immediate circumstances.
But you see the backup still in the tree with the bull rope in it.

Anyway, we laughed about it today,
We (I) dumped the two sticks and we got into another tree near by.

Cool Willie... The kick his own leg to his groin, your such a kidder.. Good to see you in action :D

Wow Deva, that could have been nasty.... Good thing you backed it up. I love the inner voice for just that reason....

Not much eventful here today. Just went over to a monthly clearing client and cleared some low branches, dead and fallen trees and so on. She wanted to get her mower between a grove of oaks and buckeyes and her horse pasture for snake protection. Took Seth with us and had a good day. Got paid.... :D Sent out tree killing billing... :D

Reddog's link is the site I was suggesting....sorry Paul, a link would have been nice in the first place. I was going to, but I went to the site, started checking out the old treehouse.....with my favorite Solaris 'theme'....and forgot to link it here. Ha!

I thought it used to have more of the forum pages, but seems it just has the higher pages (with direct links from the index page.)

I use Frontpage 2003....if you need any help, let me know.

Finished up a new chair in Zelkova wood, an interesting material to work with. No finish on it yet, just the raw wood. It's quite comfortable to sit in. Not the easiest chair in the world to make, lots of compound angles.

Thanks. You mean a Walmart special?

Working out the design, lots of putzing around since it's the first time around, I probably have close to three weeks of work in it. I have an exhibition coming up, so I'll ask in the neighborhood of two grand.
Todays pleasure, tomorrow's treasure ;)

I know, you can't really tell without seeing it up close and sitting in it. I have to shape all the parts by hand after cutting them out...cutting tools not sandpaper, and dishing the seat itself takes about a day. Then there is the lathe work for the round parts, probably the fastest aspect of making it.

I have to make forms out of heavy paper first, then plywood, then cheap wood to test the comfort, discarding the failures until I come up with what seems right to me. Getting all the curves smooth and fair, the joints as close to a perfect fit as I can, it really takes a lot of careful work. I wish I could crank them out. The second and third time around would go much faster though, and that's where the profit works in. Making one offs is a losing proposition, unless you have a rare client who will pay for all the time involved. Honestly, it really is hand made furniture.

Here's my woodworking skillz, LOL.
