we had a tree vs deere X series lawnmower fight last year, any guesses as to what a USED fuel tank cost for a 20 year old mower? $150, new equivalent (updated version, one I smashed was obsolete) was over $500Shopping for a new tractor seat. Wengers in Pennsylvania had one for $167 plus shipping.
They had a number for the Deere equivalent. Wild ass guesses?
$1100 and change.
It could be worth hanging on to until storm season next year. Stay debt free on your equipment as much as possible. Nothing like not having to make payments on something, even if it isn't the best.if anyone knows what a 2002 250XP with autofeed and a 110hp 4BT cummins is worth, let me know,
we don't live in an area with storms, an hour north we'd be covered up in work, and I advertise in that area for storm season but so many door knockers about, illegally, that I've had 2 or 3 real storm jobs in 4 years and none of them were worth a days pay, usually done in an hour or two and head home againIt could be worth hanging on to until storm season next year. Backwards is backwards no matter how you flower it up.pretty well worked out what I'm going to do, buddy of mine has a mint 1999 F250, 7.3 PSD, 4wd CCLB that he's been dying to trade for my international, as much as I don't want to get rid of that truck since I'm not chipping anymore it doesn't really matter if I keep it or not, plus he's adding almost as much cash as his ford is worth ontop which will let me go buy a motorcycle
dads talking about selling his dodge, which means I need a truck to pull the dump trailer, that F250 already has a gooseneck ball and pulls an identical dump trailer daily, low mileage rust free truck
I can sell my chipper which will pay for a shitty grapple truck if I decide to go that route, for now I plan to keep my trailer and loader and just haul brush, he has a 12X bandit he rents me for almost the same as what it costs to run my own chipper so it just makes sense to use his, plus it has autofeed and he will have a really nice chip truck (my old one) which means any time I have to chip on a crane job or something, he will be set up to come help me or just let me rent the truck from him, so really a win-win
so basically, I lose the headache that I have right now, dad gets his way on his truck, and I get a "normal" daily plus the bike I've been trying to buy for over a year now, been needing something that I can take out of state to see family but also having full size back seats will be really nice since I've been in need of a family vehicle
yeah, not having my own chipper will be a very, very small inconvenience, same for the international, but honestly it'll be less maintenance, less tires, less insurance, less everything and I still get the same number of jobs done in a year so its not a huge deal to me
but its not backwards, I absolutely must get a truck capable of towing my trailer and since I have little to no use for a chip truck and chipper, and need the money more, its very much forwards for me, especially since I don't own a vehicle legally allowed to cross state lines at the moment which means I can't go visit familyBackwards is backwards no matter how you flower it up.
You have to show resilience and stay the course.
Not a Scooby what you’re talking about, but sounds good!Tree work has been slow lately but I am thankful that I have my Avant loader and have pursued other work with it. In the last two weeks I did 2 clearing jobs, last week I demo'd a shed (12'x20' wood frame and stucco) and also the concrete slab it was on.
Yesterday I bid on demoing a house foundation slab and driveway. It's about 2700 square feet total. The driveway, carport and shed slabs are easy but I am concerned about the house foundation. I can rent a walk behind rolling concreter cutter for about $225 per day so I can cut the foundation into 5'x5' chunks that I can pick up with the loader. Going rate for concrete demo is $2-$2.50 per foot but even at $1.75 per foot I can make good money. Dumpsters are $450 each and I can put about 900' into one. I should be able to demo the entire job in a day and a half by myself and clear about $3000.
A house burned down a few years ago. They removed the house and left the concrete foundation and concrete driveway. Now they want to rebuild but need the concrete to go away first so they can start fresh. I can do that with my Avant. Not a Scooby what you’re talking about, but sounds good!
