How'd it go today?

Antibiotics are working on the Lymes. I’ve been to work every day this week and gave it my all. Upon returning home, I just sat and hydrated to help convalesce. Today, I got off work early and hit my large tree job. Did some small felling and a little climbing. Felt good. Glad to be getting back to normal!!

Long ass day today. Started early stacking the logs from my mishap yesterday (about 40 of them, most 14 - 18"), and got them on top of the chestnut oaks I snagged last month). Reattached the one screw on the gutter. Then spent an hour looking at my place and the ex's for my lunch bag, which has my travel BS meter in it (that's blood sugar; I only wish it could detect actual BS levels... ;) ). Then went to yard, unloaded Dingo and wlanut logs from job 2 weeks ago, bucked the logs to firewood length, reloaded Dingo into trailer and headed for job. A friend's house; 4 declining, 40-50" spruces, a completely fubarred, 30', spreading plum over his fence, AC and garden. Got the plum out, and while I was lining up the stump for the grinder, he comes out and tacks on 2 declining, 30"+ arborvitaes. Stripped the limbs on them, flopped the sticks over the fence into neighbor's yard (as the hike around the property sucked the big one for the limbs I had to take that way) down to the street in front. Filled the street between the chipper and the trailer w/plum remnants, and went 30' up the yard almost the length of the plum pieces for the arbs. Ground the plum stump in about 10 mins, then did a speed chipping session until dusk. Spent more time cleaning the wayward chips/dust from the pigs (took more time than chipping & quick estimate at neighbor's). Wrapped up just as rush hour was kicking in full time. Oh, did I mention I lost 4th gear in the chip truck? Happened about a mile out of the yard. Stupid thing would make odd, not quite grinding noises trying to engage, and wouldn't allow it to set. Was able to use all other gears, but still pulled over to get opinions from diesel mechs/trans speicialists I know. 2 I trust suggested something in the synchros, possibly a pin that needs to be replaced. Both said I should be fine on it for a few days, so that'll get me through the weekend (if stupid Hurricane Ian doesn't shorten it even more). I'll get it to a shop Monday to fix. Strolled in around 19:30, just to find out I've got a committee meeting for the FD. One hour of Zoompidity, and I made dinner during half of it. Just wrapping this up and headed for shower, unpacking/straighten duty, then bed for tomorrow.

Here, hold my beer....

I got 60k pounds of gravel delivered yesterday...more hardened driving area in the work yard, and some extra for my GF's house.

A fella came for some doug-fir siding this morning.

Ordered some greenhouse poly film for a hoop structure for lumber/ machine storage in time for the wet season, arriving next week, none too soon. Gotta keep after that project to keep it rolling.

Re-scoped (bid in the spring) a 2 sizeable doug-fir removal job with some nice lumber and decent lumber logs to come out of it.

Sorting some lumber.

Submitting some bids for work recently sold.

Coffee break is about over.

Had a decent day at work. Got a job that’s been long overdue done today. At a city golf course and either the scheduling didn’t mesh or they had broken waterlines every time we tried prior. They were supposed to open late because of frost but when we showed up they had the carts lined up and full waiting. I got a hole opened up and proceeded to drop the tree and haul brush out. After getting it started I drove around and came up with a plan to finish my list off till they release another round of removals. Five days of work over the next two weeks. After work it was dinner with most of my side of the family and now we’re all outside by the fire. We have the projector set up and Hocus Pocus 2 is starting. That means it’s probably nap time for me.

Yesterday I had to restake a little road, and asbuilt a swale. Felt like I was hit by a truck from the previous day's escapades. Knee's swollen and sore, and it's hard to walk. Elbow hurts to even rest it lightly on something, and tendons(?) in one side of my neck hurt. Never mind the usual thorns, cuts, and scrapes that are part of existence. I was in bed by 8pm last night.

Rested now, but still sore. Looks like a weekend of watching the rain. Deciding if I want to go to the grocery store. Nothing I absolutely need, but I like going every week.

SMS is a scourge. I hate compressing photos to send cause it ruins them. I wish there was a universal open alternative that wasn't so bandwidth constrained. Best way on a phone is zipping the pics up and sending them through email.
