Home made lowering device ideas

I've just had one made that is solid.
Adfter compressing one by accident, I wanted one that was as close to indestructible as I could get, for when we pull trees with a skidder or forwarder.
Weight is no issue, we shackle it to the machine and just leave it there all day.

If I remember its 3" OD and 1/4 side wall ,I can give an exact measurement when I get home, I wanted something heavy duty, I didn't have to worry about, I may do another out of some 1" for small stuff.

1" diameter is very small for a rigging rope. You should keep the diameter ratio of the rope and the pipe around 5, like your 3" pipe for a 5/8 rope for example.
With a 1" pipe, theoretically, you shouldn't go over a 1/5" rope if you doesn't want too big a strength loss and wear in the rope.
