I believe this thread just made a left turn lol

Jiml if you have to ask just walk on it, that way your sure there will always be another tree.
JimL I will add I can count on my hands how many dead trees I have walked on in 14 years.
More often than not dead trees arent as hazardous as what is unseen ie holoow spots and lightening struck. IMHO.

Bounce, Pete was not in a dead tree, why does this make you think of him?

Maybe because he was in a tree that failed structurally?

Dead or Alive, isnt that the main concern?

Are you axing me a question, or are you confused as to what a dead tree is?

My point is- it doesnt matter whether the tree is dead or alive....

The tree failing is Jim's concern,
Donzelli was in a tree that failed, hence Sean's statement.

Get it?

No i dont get it , a lightening struck tree is different than say a hollow tree and is different than a dead tree . THese are different mosnters and should be treated , approached with different methodologies.

Ding dong wake up call brother my bread and butter is off dead trees whats that tell you about lightening struck... nothing.

MoR (modulous of rupture) is only 400 lbs weaker on a poplarthan a pine which come in a 5,200 and 4,800 respectfully.

Here ya go climbing stone dead poplar.

Post a pick and help JimL out.
