Only bad part was we couldn’t rut or tear up any lawn. Had to mat the mini to pull the back leaners. These will all lay till they get the permits in about four months.
I’ll be nowhere near the clean up. It’ll be the big equipment crew.
Actually, i used the BMG Scoops to move a bunch of soil, up to 10" on the low side, chopped bark at the soil level, and cut the stump ALAP for grinding and burl wood. My medium/ large saws are all full wrap, so I needed extra room.
Had a lean. Easy to pop off with some wedges. Used @stig 's nylon
stacking plate option, and @cory 's stumping technique. A bit crooked aiming, and a big buttress root.
I pulled some concrete out from around the stump, too.
Grinding, I could still see figured grain. Hurt to grind it away.
Kboom to lift logs over the fence and yard some other logs up a hill, tomorrow.
A bit more cutting , a bit less grinding, and a bit less debris hauling.
Finished up a 2 day job. First day was last Thursday and we got the two smaller trees down to the concrete. The trees were filled with concrete by some bright spark back in 1935. OUr job was to get the crown out down the the steel bracing and concrete. I also did half the larger tree and we went back today to finish off. Scheduled for Friday but it was snowing like buggery so we knocked it on the head.
The largest of the trees was growing over a kindergarten and there were 4 smaller trees to preserve so I rigged 80% down. Freefalled what I could and even though we weren’t asked to fell the stems due to concrete we popped the big one over with the excavator. Hollow as hell.
Smashed chains on the 881, 661, 500i and a couple of 400’s.
Grabbed a few pictures.
There used to be two railroad stations in Oslo, east and west.
They built a big one to replace them.
Your picture reminded me of the old west station, so I thought that it might be it.
