The Official Work Pictures Thread

Jed that's the same 661. I use my 460 a lot more, to many teeth on a 32" bar to sharpen. I do blow them out once a week also. Boss really doesn't have a problem with paying to do the maintainence, just not in the morning. Most guys go straight home while my crew makes sure our stuff stays tip top. That damn blower just started a month long decline to nothingness. Those things are throw away any how. $157 is our cost on them.
Levi, I do some pruning but it's either part of a job or its to fill in.we have a few other crews that do most of the pruning. I'm not nearly as efficient on a prune job. Mainly because I'm used to wearing Spurs. I find myself trying to kick in out of habit. I can do it, just not quickly. I have a lot of respect for guys that do great pruning work.

As do I have respect for the take down kings, Rich. I had a short phase of that, it was great. We try to mostly prune at the moment. Removals don't pay so well in these parts, especially if you're working with a 16' trailer:/:

Everyone killing it again today.

Dave, I really miss pruning :( I would so much prefer what you did today... Big smile on my face... no crispy critters.

Rich... just great stuff.

Grendel. Really nice photos mang. What a sweet work environment.

And Jed. Always killing it with the sheer amount of work and tight hinge porn ;)

Topped nd sectioned down that cedar this morning after prepping the roof. I ended up lowering the top. Thing threw pieces every where. Would have had a hole in the roof for certain.
Scott, I wish I had a drop zone that I would have been cozy with for a big top. I reduced it to a 15 foot top and the wind was not co-operating. Propane tank, garage roof. Hell with it. Caught on rope. Sheeted the roof with some CDX. Worked a charm. Then threw some 10 foot logs off till I got her down to 75' for the crane on Tues.. Rob will be milling the fat logs for the HO.
4.77 inch DBH and 145 feet high. I topped it at 130.
Some fodder.... IMG_0012.jpg IMG_0013.jpg

Mike on the ropes.

The rest have been lots of small ones that are around power and the house. Jason has been just killin it.
His butchering skills are getting better as is his felling. Saw him slide 3 into an 8 foot field goal between fence posts one after another today.
Most of them are 50-60 footers limb out, top and throw. Like these two I finished my day with.

Great as always Stephan. And still amazed at the hieghts you guys deal with daily.
Levi it does take a lot more equipment to do removals to make "good" money. "Proper" pruning around here is a tough market. I'll check it again since I can't remember the actual numbers but out of all the companies listed in the phone book, only a handful actually do real pruning and only 2 maybe 3 have a CA on staff.

That's enough interesting, cool, manly, monster tree slaying...here are some nice boring pruning shots from this morning at the golf course. :|:

Dave, that's a right proper, well organized mess there. Looks enjoyable to me.

Rich and Jed...you guys are stallions when it comes to getting trees done. Great pictures.

Good stuff on those big ones, Stephen...good to hear your climber/feller is catching his stride.

That's some fine fine rope work there Stephan. That top really disintegrated! Looked like a firework going off the wrong way. Beautiful catch though

I bet that was fun Willard. Do you only have an outside dog on that 395? I heard Husky is going to stop selling those in the US soon. . .

Nice pruning Fidd, looks like you have a good variety of trees to work with, that's always fun
Here's some reduction pruning I did last week, some oaks and elms taken back from the edge of the roof. Before picture.
And my chipper, heading out to test run it, needed knives replaced, had some issues with new bolts and stuff, should be good to go soon, been to sick to bother.

All those dead trees, its just mind boggling, and now they have to be cut down, not work for the faint hearted!

Got to figure out a way to haul the chipper AND all my tools...yup, Bob will modify the truck to take chips!

You just have to get used to only taking what you need on that day.

Loading and unloading it out of the bed before and after chipping.

I did it for years, still do on occasion when I'm only taking the chip truck.

It can happen, there was a story about a English guy who had his ms200 stolen from the back of the van, reported it to the police, got a new one on insurance, only too find it 9 months later when they were turning over the chip pile.

That's funny!
Problem is I have a nice little trailer with two tool boxes on it that takes all my gear, it is so neat and convenient.
Gonna need another truck...
Have to figure it out as I go.

Thanks for the kudos guys. I am lucky I have a great team that makes me look good :) Mike, Jason and Rob are all good on rope. Mike was on that one with me. Dude is an animal :D

Man that's a tall one Stephen. Super smooth on the rope run. How long is your rigging line?

300 feet of 1/2 stable braid on limbs, top and a couple smallish sticks. Then switched over to 300 feet of 5/8ths. Tenex slings dia matched the working rope.
The limbs we lowered down on a rigging ring. One of those from Tree Stuff. Medium i believe. It enabled Mike to lower the light stuff faster and not have to reset the line on the HOBBS each time. Then we switched over to a 5/8ths block on the top for running it with the HOBBS.
The plywood sheeting worked a charm as pretty much everything in the way of limbs exploded when lowered. Some of the limbs were 5-6 inches in diameter and lonnnnnnnggggggg......

How long before you can't work those trees like that any more?
After they are dead, I mean.

Wow. Great tree. Smooth roper.

Here's my little fun for the day.
Make those things safe but leave some HABITAT! I said Cool.

Those are an asclepia?

She's going to grow some vines on up those pines...she's a gifted gardner and horser....She stables like 20 horses too. Her husband has been shoeing horses for 37 years.....Great clients.....they brought us in for a huge beautiful lunch with cold sasparilla.
