How'd it go today?

Thanks for the good wishes everybody, we're outa here in a few min. It will be such a relief for all of us, and hopefully this med will ward off any future siezures.

I'm off to remove another broken pine from a tree for another $300. About half the drive from the other one and the throwline angles are way better.
 
Nice, I had two candidates for their retest in chainsaw groundwork...got to flop a nice size invasive tree and have them cut it up, the assessor came and they passed this time. Working in a nature reserve near the beach, sunny and warm...some days are good!

Next week, five days of work on one estate... high climbing with fine pruning, lovely, just before Christmas!

I love to rub it in during the winter!

We had two hurricanes this season, nothing too big at all, small branches, small trees, the nasties went well to our south. Our last biggie was 2003...before that 1987. We are very well prepared for hurricanes and their aftermath...far better than the States or the Caribbean, our houses are built of stone or block, and we have a huge Emergency Measures Operations contingency plans for before, during and after...
Still in 2003, there were at least 6 arb specialists who came down for a month after, the sheer volume of stuff in Parks and nature reserves was too much for us to handle locally.
 
Today didn't go that well!!
I got a lecture from the sitter about how "I would NEVER let my husband buy something as foolish as that skidsteer!!" this morning.
A buddy that I have had for years wouldn't even let me in the door, much less open it, so I could check on him.
Then at 10:30 I get a call that I have to take the BIL that I don't really care for, an hour each way, to get the other BIL's broken down car. So tommorow is now shot!!
I got a set of 13" tire chains to cut down for the mini, four teeth and a chunck of cutting edge for free. I need to make a reovable tooth bar for the bucket. Sounds easy!!
Cutting edges are HARD!!! And REALLY HARD TO CUT!!!! And they HOLD A LOT OF HEAT!!! DO NOT grab the end you just got done cuting!!!!:\:
Not that I know anything about the pain involved, but IT HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:O I am going to go back to sticking my hand in ice now thank you!

Today, WOW!! Jeeeez......................
I got up and got everything ready and the trailer hooked up to go get the BIL's car. I got his wife and the BIL I don't much care for dropped of here and away we go.
It was about 30 miles south on the turnpike, not a place you want to be for any mount of time. BIL thought he had broken a serpentine belt and shut it down. We got there, it wouldn't start, had to winch it on.
Got it back and found three wires just hanging around. Where do they go?
Looked and looked, finally figured out they went to the distributer. Yanked the wire right out of the plug! Tried to take the pins out, but the plug was so brittle it just wanted to break.
Ok, salvage yard time. I called and called and called trying to find one. NOBODY had one and most places laughed when I asked!!! '96 Mitsu Diamante (DO NOT BUY ONE, EVER!!!) Found out it was the same as a Dodge Stealth and Mitsu 3000. Couldn't find one. Called the Mitsu dealer, he didn't want to even talk to me. Called a Dodge dealer, he tried and tried, but the engine wire harness is DISCONTINUED and when you could buy one it was $900:\::\::\:
Back to fixing the plug. Buy the time it was said and done, I tried everything I could pull out today, nothing worked!! Finally took the wires and stuck them through the plug and just soldered them to the distribuor!
Still wouldn't start.
Dug some more, finally found a blown fuse, THANKFULLY!!! And it lit off! We tapped the wires up and made it look good. I told her they needed to get rid of that car YESTERDAY!!!
Got it running a 3pm, jeez..........................
I have NEVER seen a car you couldn't get parts for before, that was insane!!
 
never had a 2wheel drive transmission cause me so much rouble putting it back in. then i saw the wire loom at the top of the bell housing jamming me up :dur:
 
Today went great. Customer with 120 acres and he just keeps scheduling and scheduling. So if no burn day, we go there, if burn day we go to a scheduled client. Then he booked 3 days in Jan and asked for more if we can fit it in here and there. I love this guy... :) Then he brings out the cold beer at the end of the day for us... Came home to two new calls and an order for 1 cord of wood. The guys rocked that job yesterday when I was at the Dr. with Katy and the kids. Basically we got more done over there in two days than the client thought we could do in three. I am really proud of those two. They did great. But they did leave me all the touch up and pole saw work.:/::roll:

Well today went good and we got a lot cleared next to a house. She forgot we were coming but was happy we did and remembered to :D So the three of us cut a 50 X 200 foot swath down one side of her house (the steep down hill side) . Dense brush all the way and had to keep cutting burn areas to burn in. Was a bit tight, but NP. Winds were very co-operative and we did not scorch trees for the most part.
New schedule book is in the organizer and I am calling clients to schedule whats next. Trying to figure out all that surrounds the baby's birth too scheduling wise. Wyatt (Rob's son) will be coming home on the day the c section is scheduled (from his mom's in Oregon) so we are trying to figure out all the rides and who is doing what yet .. LOL
Gotta love dem holidays!.. LOL
 
Wonderful day, today. The sun was out, the power was out, the trees will never be easier to reach. LMAO!

I got to work today. :big-dance2:
Had about a half day working on removing 3-4 large dead leads on a big live oak over a house and deck. NOTHING could be dropped as the closest safe place to land stuff was 25' away from the trunk of the tree, behind my truck. Most of the top was dead or dying back (probably root damage from when they covered the entire back yard with a wooden deck). I got most of it from the bucket and then set a climber in the tree and used the bucket winch to crane away pieces as the climber cut.

I had no idea it was going to be that involved or else I would have brought the camera. It was good to get out and work again, was kinda rusty the first half hour.
