How'd it go today?

funny part is I bid this same tree three years ago........so I tripled my price this time:D

Nice looking work, NB. Is that a 33 ton crane? Looks like the 33 we use.

Did you really triple your price, and get it??

dug out and rocked a new parking spot for the bucket truck, tipped over 2' pondorosa pine for 150 bucks, bought a clutch for the new chip truck and decided to go hunting in the am rather than this afternoon

had one live limb three years ago.......

30 ton rear mount Terex 6600, 90' of stick

just ran around the house with a calculator and added up 1800 watts worth of lights burning in the house for no reason. wife asked what i was doing:D

I dont think we have the ability to have that much power burning in light at one time in our place, mind you most of our lights are CFL's. I am a lightswitch (and baseboard heater) nazi, when you leave the room, turn the dang light off and heater down. :D

Thats how I grew up.

We did two good jobs today and then we tried to do a couple of bids to no avail. The first bid the customer didn't show up and by the time we got to the second one at 5:30 it was too dark to see. Our weather is mild as all get out this winter but the short days really put a crimp on bidding. I don't have an autonomous crew right now and it is hurting me.

Today went great. Hired a spider lift 23gt w/operator. We both went in the bucket and killed 3 Ash's. He kinda offered me a great paying job w/bennies, def something to think about.

I have pics but right now I am typing with one eye because I got dust in my other eye, hurts like a bitch.

Not too exciting .Had to refurbish the wood rack, cold ya know,Ohio in winter .

Tom the tree guy stopped out .He has all but two guys laid off ,slow this time of year for the treemen .I imagine that with tight money though it's tight every where .:(

Dust in yer eye, Yikes, hate the burn.

Took a wild ass ride today.

I won't even try and explain.
Bottom line I forgot to take in account the repurcussions of rigging off a different spar, same euc.
I didn't think I'd feel anything but the whole tree whipped hard.

I went head over heels forward and ended upside down and backwards.
My 020 flying, lost my hardhat, handsaw, the whole garage sale.

Smacked the baby jesus out of my left knee.

Anyway, I won't say it wasn't fun. Ground guy, asks are you okay.
I just said, Tie on my hardhat and handsaw, please.

Two climbers in two days, smacked.

Here's a picture of a typical trunk in that stand, lots of old mechanical wounding gone wild.
Maybe Tanks or something.

Wow, Deva, that's crazy.

There's old climbers and there's bold climbers, but there's not very many old bold climbers. Take care of yourself, buddy. 8)

Day three of the poison oak removal and we done for now... till we start it again... Customer booked 6 more days of work and is open for more if we don't quite have it all done. Lighter duty work today in it though. We had most the tangled stuff done last two days on the slope we are working and have a lil more than an acre cleared as of today. Had two brushers with blades going today and was nice not to be hunched all over with a saw all day... Still had to play tug of war with the stuff in the trees though. She announced she may just have the tractor guy take the trees down, so we may be just done once the PO is cleared.. We shall see ;)
Brushing up the pass tomorrow in an arroyo with all canopy. Should be a blast (NOT) had to about rope off last year in that damn thang.

I had to go chip the brush from a olive take down, then took out 15 walnut trees. They weren't all that big. All of the brush chipped fit in my forestry truck and had a load and a half of firewood in my dump trailer. Then did two bids and just got home at 5:45.

kicked ass killed a pine with a crane.
I have not cut off on a crane in six years or so but it was like riding a bike.
no pix

Yeah, Thanks Brian, you're right.

Hindsight I shoulda cinched in way tighter, I was a little lax in my stance.

The knee is golden, I just got back from a run, feels good.
