How'd it go today?

Trimmed a Norway Maple from over a roof this morning. Then headed over to a friends house to trim a Beech over his shed. Used a speedline for the first time, tip tied and butt tied the branches and zip them on down. Worked pretty good.

Climbed a nice maple today deadwooded and took some limbs away from the house and the neighbors precious hedge. It was a blast, nice change from the bucket scene. Gorgeous warm day, sun was shining, life is good!8)

Feel even worse!!! But mama should b happy happy happy!!! Killed the almost ready to fall over Redbud, and five cedars in the back yard. The yard is graded and should drain better. Looks like a whole other place!!! Now I need to bring in and plant the Oaks. I figure plant six, then keep the strongest two or three.
I guess the machine show tonight! The Dave's are on the way. I hope I can keep up!!

froze me arse off on a dead oak TD......35 and windy , SHIT:|:

I'll probably have nightmares tonight bout tomorrows crane job....

Day one of a the three day poison oak removal.. Sore but still alive. Yanked on one tree for about an hour to pull it out. Maybe more. Dang white oak was split and rotten once I pulled the P oak from it. Glad I did not climb it.:D
Two more days ... whew. Got a tree TD and Trim on the phone and a better late than never check from a TD few weeks back :) TY mail lady :D
Taking the DR Mower tomorrow for the better terrain stuff. Should make some head way tomorrow with it... Nice thing is we will get to do some TDs once all the P oak is gone.... Should take at least another 3 day stint just on the P oak. Hope she's ready for the bill ;) :D

I left poison oak behind when I moved to Idaho. There is a little poison ivy here and there but not the thick stands of poison oak I played around in California. I worked for a fuels reduction crew out at Point Reyes National Seashore and the first day I was there they gave me a saw and told me they wanted me to follow the flag line and put in a 6' cut. They flagged right through a nasty stand of poison oak of course. I tried to convince them to just include that thicket in their burn area but they wouldn't budge. That was one of my worst cases of oak ever and I missed several days of work even using technu armor and soap. Later on they included that strip of brush in the burn and the line I cut that day was for nothing.

Today was a good day. I removed a dead maple in the middle of a deck. Part of it had broken and fallen on the house. It rained in the morning and the roof had a steep pitch. I used the big shot to shoot a line through a large spruce tree in the front and out over the roof. I pulled a line over the house and tied it off on the spruce. I used my new Petzl ID to work on the steep roof and my GRCS to lift all the brush off the roof. My toys sure helped out today.

The mini sits in the garage tonight:D
Had dinner with the Daves, meet up with TNT Dave in the am for breakfast before I go see the Doc. I've lost all hearing in my right ear now. Waiting to see if my eardrum ruptures, I hate this crap!

OUCH Andy.. Sorry you have that ear thang.. But you have to be happy that mini is there :D Betcha can't wait to go out and play on it when ya feel all better ;)
Have any antibiotics in the house???

No, and it wouldn't matter, when I get this bad I have to get on a steroid pack as well as antibiotics.

Hopefully the weather will clear a bit in the PM and I can finish clearing out the back yard. I have some decent cedar poles out there that will give it a good test.

just ran around the house with a calculator and added up 1800 watts worth of lights burning in the house for no reason. wife asked what i was doing:D

not legal this time of night, only thing ive killed is a dog with my truck last week:( nice looking thing to

nice and slow, gonna tip over a nice one in the am, digsome mud out for a parking spot after that, bid one about 1pm and then off to the woods again. times getting short

I took down a 30" dbh chinese elm and ground the stump. Plus some little tree that I didn't know what it was. My neighbor came over and picked up the wood . Finished early again.:)

Just got home from day two of the three in the poison oak jungle. DR Mower took a crap today, looks like a carburetor issue. So we are gonna have to clean it out and see what we got. Two saws went down yesterday to some simple shat and I had them up and running for today until the throttle linkage gave out on one of them. Just pulled another out of the truck and kept at it. Picked up a couple more brush blades tonight as we are mostly out of the nasty tangle, save for pulling it out of the trees. Home owner already wants to schedule another 3 day event so we must be making a good showing of it. Hard working on that slope all day, two days in and we 3 on the job are just hurting from being off footing and bent over saws.
No burn today so that did not help as it makes for longer dragging.
Going to sit down with more paper work tonight and make a call and see what this message wants.... Hopefully more clearing ... LOL Actually hopefully more tree work...
Katy had an appointment today and the doctors are going to schedule her C sect. after next weeks appointment. We may end up having a closer to Christmas baby than early Jan. She is having a lot of contractions, but I know that is because she wants to keep working till right before the birth... Hey you try and tell this woman to slow down... She was out back with the dang chainsaws last week:lol:
Well back to paper work and I'll BBL.8)

So, Today we were doing some removals in those eucs I showed earlier.
Guy was roping, standing a little too close to the DZ, no one saw it happen.

The piece was not too big dead top loaded with dead wood tip tied.
Maybe not enough cranks on the grcs, is what I'm guessing.

right after the cut was made the piece dropped the block which was tied
to a bull rope draped over a crotch and rained 4" by 10' sections of dead wood down on the rope guy.

He was speared in the thigh, ripped open his crotch of his arborwear
and shredded his pant leg, nastiest charlie horse on the planet.
It didn't penetrate, sorry no pictures, but he went to the hospital
says he'll be back at work tommorow. I'll call him later tonight.

Always pretension the hell out of the tip ties.

Anyway, Be safe.
