How'd it go today?

doing some CSI level investigation stuff and finding out the LLC that owns the building I was told to bid a job at (yes, that guy) is supposedly a really famous film/production company that has filmed stuff for Chopped, Cutthroat kitchen, extreme homes, and a bunch of other stuff, still not sure the dudes legit but its cool to see that production company 15 minutes from my house

I've also bid a job for Thom reed from ancient aliens, he wanted the HOA to pay for his tree, obviously never got the job, he also seemed upset that I had zero clue who he was, I recognized him but thats it, turns out he's kindof a big deal I guess

TIL cathemeral:something that wakes and sleeps when it feels like it. I didn't know there was a name for can't get to sleep all night, then can't get your ass of of bed in the morning.

A buddy of mine has moved away from actual timber framing and is now doing conservation assessments and reports. He has, until recently, been working in Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Saudi and a few places I can't spell.
A nice showing of Guild founders who were there in 1985. A bunch of people I haven't talked to in a while. And today was just check-in.

Neurodivergents have that tendency.

It can take a long time for some brains to wind down. Lots of people don't plan for it.

My brother starts awake late, sleeps poorly, is always tired and late. He doesn't try to wind down. Instead, he falls asleep in front of the computer with the tv and lights also on.

When I visited home 2 weeks ago, there was a loop playing of Sweet Child of Mine by GnR on loud on Facebook, but he slept through it, sitting up, because he's so tired.

this is exactly how I am, currently 2:12am and just waiting to pass out because theres zero chance of me falling asleep if I try to, and waking up takes hours, plus the audio sensory stuff that makes everything super loud while I'm waking up, a fly on the other side of my room sounds like a helicopter inside my head

well, the Russian customer won't quit calling me to see when I'm going to do his job, he's getting concrete done Monday directly under the trees so I guess we either wait 3 weeks or do it tomorrow, and I'm sick of him pestering me so I guess do it tomorrow if the weather allows us to, not a good parking area, hopefully his contractors aren't there because I will need every inch of the parkinglot, city wouldn't like us dragging brush down Broadway

I also need to invest in a lot of cones and a pepperball gun, so many people have been walking into my coned off dropzones lately, making us stop work and escort them out, I've had to yell at almost 1 person a day every job this year because of it, at this point pepperballs from the tree seem reasonable for the people so stupid that they think its OK to cross the demarcated work area despite cones, caution tape, and multiple workers yelling at them to leave

after meeting with him and his workers, he seems a bit more trustworthy, apparently that studio was sold to these guys and the state just hasn't updated records yet, and the police station is like a block away if anything happens, not someone I want to work for, but I want to just get the job behind me

planning to send big pieces and get out of there quick fast and in a hurry, safely of course, but no dilly dallying, its right on the main road through town so I don't want to hang out anyways, too much traffic right next to this job, very visible area atleast so I don't think anything will go down

Recently I began considering trading my 18' tandem axle trailer for a 14' single axle tilt trailer. I have a long list of advantages and only 2 disadvantages. First of all, I have had 2 accidents in the last year with the 18' trailer. Maybe my age or maybe I am just not as good of a driver as I think I am. But the constant tire issues, banging stuff with the fenders, and dealing with the ramps every time I unload are all irritations for me.
I am looking at a 14' single axle, 7000 lb capacity tilt trailer. I would need to build a frame mounted rack over the front of the bed to hold my extra attachments that I currently carry in the front of my trailer. I also have a few other mods to customize the trailer exactly how I want it, nothing too crazy. I can sell my current trailer for about $2k I think. New one will be about $4000 plus modifications. Here is a link to the trailer I am looking at (Alabama dealer has it for $1000 less than local dealer). Equipment Trailers for Sale Leeds Alabama | Trailer Dealer | 4RATU1413SG016842

How well is the tilt function going to work once you put your attachment rack on?
And as I stated elsewhere, the duel axle is nice when a tire blows.
The rear supports will come off the trailer frame outside of the tilt deck in front of the fenders. Front supports can come off the frame in front of the deck.
Switching from 8 ply 15" tires to 10 or even 14 ply 16" tires will greatly reduce the chance of blowouts.
