How'd it go today?

Indeed, but it's ballsy to tow that with this truck.:dude:
I'm sure the local officiers would agree that the numbers aren't in your favor here.
I even doubt that I could drag only the trailer alone with my van.:D

Over here people are swapping out their purpose built trucks (flat beds, tow trucks, car carriers, semis) for common heavy duty pickup trucks. I'm sure they get frequent rebuilds. I don't doubt the power, I doubt the durability.

gotta replace a bent valvestem, thought the inner thimbles/nuts were the wrong size seeing that the flange sat inside the hole on the inner rim, spent an hour + trying to get it off, only to find out I do indeed need the actual BUDD socket

nice to get a chance to inspect parts, everything looks good, needs a bath and a wire wheel to the hub face and rim mounting surfaces but otherwise its all good

appears to be a 21,000 pound trailer, truck most likely rated at 25,000 or thereabouts although being a dodge I'd be it doesn't have a GCWR sticker, so you can totally legally get away with 21K + whatever the truck axles are rated at, probably 35K gross

I'd load it as heavy as needed and just go slow enough for the exhaust brake to handle all the work down grade and be 100% comfortable, my dump truck needs an exhaust brake in a bad way, we see 25% grades all the time, truckers always mention the 6-8% grades on the interstate but nobody talks about residential and backroads, the road infront of my house is 28% and its not even bad for my area, pretty common for me to drop down into first gear before a hill and still have to stand on the brakes to hold it back at 3mph all the way down 1/4-1 mile hill

Something has moved into my basement. The insulation is off one of the windows and the panes of glass are dislodged. There are a bunch of things knocked off shelves. I hope it moves out on its own.

well, I got my stuff today, and got my tire done, just in time to take it all to 2 decent jobs to test this thing out on!

the BMG either got a redesign or my guy ordered the wrong one, I spec'd a T1001 and got a T1001U, not sure if its the U model now or what, but its got internal hose routing, whole new attachment plate and its reinforced all over, whole thing seems to be heavier duty than the last one I had, also a lot quieter but I haven't broke it in or forgotten to grease it for a month yet

the rake seems good, its a pain in the ass to grab, or I'm missing something, the grapple binds up and pushes the rake sideways sometimes which prevents the pin from seating in the grapple frame properly, I'm guessing we will get it figured out in a day or two and it'll be nice and easy

mom called while I was off doing tire things, theres a snake in her room supposedly, been looking around the house for 6 hours and haven't found it, guess I will know where its at when I step on the poor bugger at 2am

Went and picked up an extra set of wheels for my Ram, also going to scrounge a set of used 37” tires for it just for offroad.

Heard about this tonight. Failed drug run across the border. Wish I had time. There are two others in the area last I knew. Neither in decent shape like this one.

had a dude stop by todays job, wanted me to do a job, didn't really want a quote and got weirded out when i told him he had to meet me on the property for a written quote or I wouldn't do the job, he never got out of his minivan, and just about pulled me through the window when he gave me a handshake, googled his phone number, nothing, googled the address and its owned by an LLC which has 39 counts of name change, assumed name, address change, and being shut down by the state multiple times

kinda expecting to get jumped when I show up to bid this job, he never asked for company info or name, asked my personal name multiple times, said "you understand?" a lot along with "don't bullshit me" and "I pay cash no questions asked"
not even sure I'm going to do this bid, he could describe the property perfectly (I've driven by it daily for 8 years) but his name isn't on anything for that property or LLC, at-least nothing public, he's a foreigner (Russian, I think?) which may complicate some stuff, not sure, also there could be a cultural difference which would explain him pulling on my arm extremely hard during that hand shake, and wrapping his arm around mine so I couldn't back up from his car, but I was to a point with this guy where I almost called the cops when he left, he sketches me right out, gonna bring a few extra guys to this bid if I even go, other issue is he has the company phone number, which is linked to my business page on google, which has my address, guess I'm pulling an all nighter to make sure he isn't poking around my place I guess, not sure what to do but I think I frigged up by even talking to the dude

other than that, today went good, 3 leylands and a lightning struck hickory, had to pull fence, about 400ft from the road to the trees on a 12* driveway, loader got a workout, getting the hang of the BMG broom
