How'd it go today?

Bad news in the middle of the night. One of my wifes best friends passed away .These things for reasons unknown often comes in three and she being the third .RIP Tina .

That aside I have about one short cord more or less in the woods to split and stack then I'm done with that pile which started as around 10 cord of good old red oak . I'll get with it here shortly .Should have it by days end and just in time for refreshments on the patio . Nice day for such stuff, temp in the low 70's and slightly overcast .

I fixed the chipper this morning, then called the crew in at 10 am to do a removal. Surprisingly, everyone showed up. We got to the job around 10:30 and were done before 2. :)

Whew, today was a great money day! Dropped 6 trees in 4 hours, and had all the brush cleaned up. Wood is staying where it is. One tree I had to climb and set the pull line, and we lowered two pieces of a back branch. Got some great spike time in on that one. Wasn't just going up, but also manuvering around in the tree with them.

Then we dropped the last tree of the day. A big ass, rotten Sycamore. This thing was one nasty tree! We set our pull line, hooked it too the truck, made the face cut and back cut and pulled her over. Took a video and some pics that I'll upload after I clean house a bit(grandma is coming over)

Did some more hoisting of the spray guys today in my bucket and then knocked out/cleaned up a cottonwood. Frigging hot out, glad to have the shorter day.

Damn 10 minutes from being done on my pile of oak and the stupid chainsaw spit the gas cap out and spit fuel all over me .I had to trot to the house and rinse it off and change clothes before it burnt my nads off .That would not be good .:O

Well back to the woods so i can finish before the appointed hour of R and R on the patio .

Just woke up from my nap and made a sammich. Still half asleep due to the Flexiril I took earlier. I might take another nap after I eat.

Twenty minutes is just when the CV thing is starting to kick in. The first twenty minutes for me is just warming up.

I gotta hit it in a few minutes, then it's whiskey and water time for me, as well!

Hi Al,
I hear ya. Back when I was in college I worked at the local airport as a refueler.
Well one day while refueling a Piper Aztec I turned the nozzle and it separated from the 1 1/2 inch hose fuel was flowing at approximately 150 gallons per minute. In one second I was drenched from chest to knees in 130 octane avgas. boy did that burn. Nice 200 yard dash to the hanger and the showers.

Oh I got-er-done plus loaded up a truck load .About another truck full in the woods.Tommorrow is another day .

Oh say I did try out the Rocky special on a chunk of 30 inch oak rather than trot to the shed and get a larger saw .That little pea picker ate right through it ,no problem at all . I'll say this, and not just because I was the one that reworked it but you can lean on that thing .It's not one of those cookie cutter specials some do .

Just got home from building some stairs out of 6x8 Pressure Treated Ties. Six steps and a landing up to the pool area for my ladies parents. My first time and its looking GREAT. Just have to pick up two more ties, it's done on my end.

I know the feeling. I never photogaph anything it seems and definetly the majority of the time have no idea where my camera is.

I already wish I had been more into photography, lots of cool places and times will be just faded memories for me.

I try to carry it with me at all times, never know what you're gonna see. Just slipped my mind this morning as the truck was loaded early and I left late.

Having a camera in the truck at all times is a good idea for contractors. If you have an issue on a jobsite, photos can be very valuable. If you are working around something that has already been damaged, you should take pics while the tree is still intact, just in case. Photos better than hearsay evidence.
