How'd it go today?

I wish we could sell the wood here like ya did there Willie... Ohhhh ;)

I think that there are some good woods in your area. California has some native species that are most excellent for woodwork. Acacia, Yew, Bay laurel, Madrone (twisty bugger though), Western maple, Walnut (Juglans hindsii....yeah baby!), Sycamore, Pear, Chinkapen...some others. If you find good trees and take them to the bay area, or maybe have a broker come to you, I'm pretty sure that you can get a good price. Slab and sticker it, then air dry it and get an even better price, though some more time investment.
Might want to advertise in a woodworking magazine. Lots of woodworkers in Northern California! There are woodworking associations that you can contact too. Last resort, send it to me :P

I'll never cut up a log that I don't have to again. The Walnut that I sold is gonna get milled in my yard on the 15th. Definetly gonna get some pics, the father of the guy doing the milling manufactures portable sawmills in Salmon Arm here locally. I haven't seen one ever but apparently they're supposed to be really nice. He's supposed to come tomorrow to check out the 'site' here to decide which model he's gonna bring up.8)

Brendon, where's the pics of the truck?

Brendon, where's the pics of the truck?

 It's about 2 miles down the road at Gregs house. No matter how much I'd like to, my current truck has to be gone and out of site before I go ahead. I've gotten 4 e-mail interests and 2 calls on it from craigslist, so hopefully it won't take long. I'll let Greg's money sit on it instead of mine, he'll let me know first if anyone is interested, (he's advertising it for 13000).

I like to think shit through, don't want any regrets.:|:

Call me silly, cause I am.

Today SUCKED!!!!
Made a wood run, got down in the feild fine with the truck, found a nice patch of wood close by, everything was looking up! I had a bad feeling last night about running today, and it was stronger this morning!! I need to start listening to myself!!!
Had weather coming in, but nobody is sure when, so I left early. Got there and setup, dropped the first tree, cut way to high on the back cut. Not sure what I was thinking, but got it down alright and sliced it up. Fired up the mini but had no throttle control! Spent an hour fixing that, mini's aren't the easiest machines to work on, expecially in BFE!! Got it running good and loaded up some smaller pieces. Got to a big one that I thought I had cut in half, I hadn't. Oh well drag it to the trailer and cut it there and load it up. WRONG!!!!!
I hit a soft spot and sunk it!!! Right down on the frame!! I lifted the front up and shoved some small cedar trees under it, nope!!I forgot to throw in the shovel so I used my axe to dig it out as best I could and but more brush uner it. Nope!!! I ended up taking two tie down ratchet straps and hooking them together to a tree and managed to pull/drive it out!! That only took another hour!
Trying to finish up loading I had another large log and felt the front end just drop under me!! I dropped the log and backed out as fast as I could!! I managed to get the whole tree loaded, the machine on and get out without further incident. Then drove home with a 30-40mph crosswind!
I'm not sure anymore about going solo out there!!! Today was trying and tireing!! I MIGHT have two face on the trailer, not a good haul at all!!!

I loaded it heavy, and I knew it was a wet area, but.............

Carl, plywood takes up way too much room!!! Next time I will take the BIG come along with me and a couple of log chains, as well as the damn shovel!! It's wild out there, it doesn't matter what you have out there. Once you break the surface, you are DONE!!!! Gods country for sure!!

large White Oak TD at the same place where the EPIC crane removal takes place tommorrow am......rain or shine. OH shit, I'm in deep on this one:\:

if it ain't raining.....I'll take some. Hell, it took an hour to shuffle the truck and chipper in place. crane will be set up on the raod where we dug out spots for the outriggers.......fricken cable dudes better be there first thing to drop thier wire, or I'm gonna chop the mofo:/:

We had our second snow of the year today. I bailed off on the first half of the day and did billing. The second half of the day we knocked down an ash tree. Tomorrow I have a silver maple, oak and apple to prune. The weather should be more conducive to trimming tomorrow.

i whacked on some nice old black oak way up in the woods for an old guy with arbor-phobia:roll: wasnt a topping job but it wasnt pretty either
