This am, me and Lou are installing 2 bald eagle nesting platforms for our local land stewardship council :)

wish us good weather guys!

should be a hoot, lots 'o pics to follow ;)

will look like this when done8)

will be nice to have more of them nesting in the 1000 islands region we call home8) Osprey on Nest Bay platform 2009.JPG

They are pumped cuz we can climb the trees without spiking them like the hydro climbers in the past have done...

Nice!!
1000 Islands, what an absolutely beautiful area...sailed through there in the Tall Ship's Race in, eeerrr '84!
Say Hi to Lou!

it is beauty Bermy, today wasn't, cloudy, drizzly and cold, but we got it done, even after the little screws they put in it were rusted and BROKE sending the whole shebang crashing 70 feet down..lol ;)

But we got it up, Lou was there for a bit, but it was too tight for 2 climbers and I figured I would have enough pitch crap to clean off my ropes and gear...:( IMGP6163.jpg IMGP6159.jpg IMGP6169.jpg IMGP6165.jpg

some pics of the steel platform that goes on the 2x6 pressure treated base.read...HEAVY bitch:)

getting the base sent up and trying to get it into place

in place and done :) Eaglet eye view eh?

that is the ST Lawrence River in the background, it is a private island, no docks, no houses.

and BTW, installing lags, threaded bolts, and threaded u-bolts isn't fun when there is no place to hold stuff...lol had some washers and THREADED nuts in my mouth( okay fire all the wisecracks now...),a few times...lol,,,, but by accident, swallowed one of the nuts..:) should be a fun ride in the am ;)

They will be monitored, and i will probably be the climber to inspect and band them and maybe install a satellite tracking system on one :)

I have another platform to install next week.

Why did they use platic zip ties instead of wire to lash the sticks in place? They won't last long considering their UV issues!
