Sounds like winter has arrived in full force. 5–6 inches already and temps dropping is no joke. Stay warm and safe out there.Looks like winter is here.......... 5-6 inches of snow on the ground and the mercury is dropping.

Back online after we have been without grid power for near all of 3 days. Plenty of wind, and the rain has been endless. About 8 inches of rain this past week. Our creek is really flooding, overwhelmed the culvert under the road in front of our property and had water several inches deep on the pavement for about 100 feet. This has only happened twice before in the more than 45 years we have lived here.
The little WEN genny ran 65 hours straight, used about 2.5 gallons of fuel. It's answered every call I have asked of it, in spades. A good buy. Wood stove kept us warm, propane kitchen stovetop for cooking, buckets from the creek to flush toilets. Refrigerator/freezer and a few lights in the kitchen and living room powered from the genny. We even plugged in the laptop and watched a DVD.
Life is good.

Underwater, just left of center of the first pic, is the 36 inch diameter culvert. A sucking whirlpool forms and dissipates every few seconds. If you got near that, it would take you down in a moment.

Lots of rain and big wind here the last few days. Tuesday night was particularly bad. Our biggest gust was 68mph, with most gust 45-50, which keeps you awake all night when you live in the woods. A neighbor called Wednesday morning and told us the entrance to our driveway was plugged. Sure enough, 5 trees fell across leaving 2 scary looking widowmakers overhead. We cleared a path to get the car thru and will deal with the mess after the storms. Also lost a couple leaners inside our immediate yard.

Same here, still howling. Worse today than yesterday. No trees in the driveway yet though

Merry Christmas to all of you, Stephen! Same forecast here today. Rain, gusts of 45, and possibly thunder and lightning. Power is out all around us but we have been very lucky so far. We've just been hunkering down for several days now, keeping the woodstove going. Life is good!

Rain and calm after rain and wind.
In the middle of a 150' doug-fir (if my climbline is 250') that started making a crack in the gravel driveway. Barely seen by the neighbor by luck. A house would have been hit by this tree at 70' so probably 1.5' thick.
We raked and tamped the gravel to watch for any new heave cracks.
Got it's top 50' stripped of limbs, top 25' off in gusty conditions with a guy line @ 70'
Added a second 2:1 guy line at 125' because I could pull it into the place of my climb line, as more strong wind was possible in the forecast.
Nobody has to worry over Christmas.
