The official "Welcome New Members" thread!

Welcome to the treehouse KTS glad to have ya here. extremetrees that was directed at all those which would ask or put themselfs (fellers that is) in a thong. I'm not afraid of much on this planet, but that thought scares the hell out of me. Darin in a thong.

Welcome, KTS. WTF is this 'arboristsite' of which you speak? :|:

Oh it was a nice neighborhood, friendly family folks, lots of shade trees and well kept yards. Backyard barbeques and family outings with the neighbors.....then things slipped a little here and there, gangs moved in, there were driveby shootings and acts of vandalism, assaults became commonplace, the police avoided the area for awhile then new cops came in but they were on the take. The Mayor called for urban renewal but it all turned to graft and self serving bureaucracy. Many good citizens who protested were denigrated by the mayor himself or members of his staff. Working families left in droves.
It still exists but only as a falsefronted shadow of its former glory.

No one there has caught up to my post count, I see.

But we all know post count don't mean squat!

Hello to all!

My name is Mike

I'm a New Zealander currently working in Norway.i'm a climber who has worked in seven countries over eleven years and I'm still crap.
Havn't learned a thing.:?
Just ask Grover

Sup Mike, me names Robert man, dude you climbed all over the world. Welcome

Just so it has a good ending man. Some of us in the treehouse are badly hurt from trees man,.

Okay here it is

The other day we all had a great time dismantling a big Doug Fir up on the hill side out of Bergen. There were 50odd people watching and the press were there and a local TV crew. The tree had been a major upset to many folk for a long time as its hight blocked the veiw for alot of people. So,it all had gone well up untill I needed the 066 up the tree,I like it sent up to me running. Now I work with mostly Polish lads, good bunch but not all of them "saw savvy".So one of the guys clips my saw to my rope, the other tries to start it,no go,no go again...
He must have gotton embarassed as there were folks watching, threw the saw down and his mate started thrashing it with a stick!
Mental!
Thankfully that bit didn't make the papers, and the TV had better things to bore the good people of Bergen with,so they didn't show any of the tree work.
Just as well eh

Good story Treebogan
Welcome to the tree house, Beat it with a stick eh? Funny stuff. What's the biggest tree you ever climbed, and in which country? Glad to have ya here. See Ya
Mike

Well I guess I outta introduce myself here... I am currently just a groundperson, working for an arborist in Vermont. Mostly i just drag brush and feed the chipper and manage the equipment, pull ropes, operate the tirfor etc etc. I have been doing this job for the last three summers and I love it - the trees, the exercise, the outtdoor work, and especially the rope, knots, and rigging! I work for a very very small company so no bucket truck.
Anyway, I came here looking for pictures of people's work, tree work is infinitely fascinating. i like to take photographs of the jobs and i also
draw the equipment.
I have climbed only a couple of times for training, twice with toprope and once with spike and safety. Don't know if i will ever be a full time climber, for now i like my job on the ground (although climbing is exhilerating!), and I still feel like a rookie -- I have a lot to learn!
Nice to meet you all, and interesting to read about specific jobs and view the pictures that have been posted in these forums!

Hello clove hitch!
Gald to hear your loving the job!
Chisel Tooth
The biggest Tree I ever climbed was on the Queen Charlotte Islands in Brittish Columbia.I'm not sure exactly of its height but I'd guess at 250ft plus.
I've herd of 300footers on the islands but not heard any stories of anyone measuring them.

Welcome new members, heh Treebogan I did some time in the Charlottes where were you at there? I was in Sandspit.

Welcome clove hitch, you must be the knot guy eh? Hey TC didn't ya tell these guys they were to bring beer and pizza? Ah hell it's ok we'll have to catch ya next time. Your going to like it here.
