I believe all techniques are good techniques. Modern techniques may be faster or easier but ultimately being able to see the growth and progression of the industry makes a new guy like me appreciate where we have came from and all the work of the men and women that came before me

Hey everyone, so my real name is Matt. I'm 28 and was raised in the church and in my fathers automotive shop. My experiences vary from automotive diagnostics and electrical work, sales and business management, landscaping, sound technician (for my church), I'm also a certified personal trainer and am training for my performance enhancement specialization. I have been doing tree work for almost 2 years. My old boss of the landscape company began entertaining tree climbing so we began climbing together. He was quickly threatened by me and when he began to try to control what I did in my free time, I emailed him a letter of resignation. Now I work for a new company that has multiple divisions of pros that lead them. I make much more than I did with the last company and am appreciated by the teams and now have the opportunity to learn other trades while I also get to do tree work on a regular basis. Most of my knowledge is from books and YouTube I haven't had the opportunity to work under a skilled arborist and get to watch him in the tree to learn little movement techniques in the tree. My first two days was climbing a huge oak tree (well big to me). Was between 80-90ft with a 5ft dbh. Had 6 large main stems that swung all around and right over top of the house. Managed to get all limbs removed on day one and dropped the final 40ft spar the next day. I am absolutely in love with this work and aspire to become isa certified and become one of the best, with all of yawls help of course thank you in advance for all of the help already received and what I will receive in the future.

Thank you all. Oh and Mr. @gf beranek, your fundamentals book coming back in to the industry was a blessing with that big tree I felled. Your page on felling spars with no brush was the difference in both my confidence and that spar not falling the wrong way on to a house. Would have been a real bad first impression

yeah it had a 5ft dbh. Two of the limbs went over the house so had to swing those tops in small pieces until I was able to chunk those pieces down. Then 4 other stems, one I was able to drop the whole thing at once the other 3 just had to negative rig the few pieces of each top. Once I got it down to the main final spar was able to drop the whole thing the next day. Didn’t take any good before pictures but here’s ones from day 2 of the spar I fell with my new 500i. The tree grew forward and back over the house and forward so the one picture I have from the boss doesn’t do it justice

Howdy everyone, im wayne and i have always liked trees. For some reason this past year i have fell in love with them and working in them, especially mesquite trees. Im born and raised in tucson arizona and am 33 yr old. Have started my own business 3 years ago doing odd jobs for family that has bloomed into a full time deal doing landscaping and over the past 6 months i have started to turn it into a tree service since i can work all day with trees and it doesn't feel like work. I truly found my calling. I was planting some saguaro cactus the past couple of days and i was on top of the house with an amazing view and i thought i would snap a couple of photos. Hope you enjoy the pics. In the last photo you can see their second story balcony.

Thanks guys, glad to be here. the house is buried under 3 ft of dirt. He pulled the side of the ridge apart built his house and covered it. It's all concrete and it's called a vault shape so the concrete is under compression under the dirt. He hasn't had the best of luck with plants growing on it, so I suggested some local plants and he liked the idea. I have worked for this couple for as long as I can remember, great people, they have a few acres and like all the land to be looked over and maintained. Most of my customers are the type that I go to thier place once to a couple times a month to do what ever I think needs done and every now and again they will have a little list of things to do. It's fantastic that they all are great people with great pieces of land. I am truly blessed. I will get more pics for you guys

SkwerI there have been some amazing things happen here and there has been some real heartbreak as well in the old pueblo. That why I can't seem to leave this place, I just couldn't bring myself to, even though in the summer it hits 100 for 3 month at least.

i've been reading along for some time now.. and thought i indroduce myself.
i contract climb for different companys, usually removals and pruning/reducing.
at the moment i'm buying a lucas mill to salvage some of the beautiful logs that otherwise become woodchips.
