...not a materials expert but the outside looks and feels like the outside of the snowmaking hose we use at the ski area...durable should be

Ha, maybe not a materials expert with a degree, but I bet you, as an experienced tree guy/outdoorsman, know a good lot about materials. Materials are amazing.
