Here is a video of the metal hitch/rack/pulley tending slack, ascending, and descending. The video was cut off but at the end I was demonstrating how to release the hitch with a thumb on the descent lever.

Thanks for the vid. With your device, you are not thinking of incorporating a hitch cord into the system, so relying solely on the mechanical life support?

The pulley rack can be configured to be hitch dependent or all steel.

Thanks all. It does release very nicely. I measured the sit back from fully collapsed to fully weighted and the difference is 2-3/4"
