ice warriors

Same here close to 50, same tomorrow, and 55 on friday. Then cold with a wintery mix on Saturday. Weather in the great midwest is rarely dull in the winter.

And so it it begins again!!! We were supposed to get 2-3 inches last night. We now have a winter storm warning in effect. The wind is gusting to 38mph, thunder and lightning with snow coming down fast!! It has now been brought up to 5-7 inches of snow by 7pm tonight.
Could be another dud, could be pretty wild, only time will tell. But thunder snow is one thing, never had heard of lightning as well!!!!

Getting mighty close to being a blizzard now!!! Pretty near white out outside, the snow is coming down horizontally, 45mph gusts now!! My BIL waited to drive up from Tulsa, I just now got him talked out of that!! I thought he and his wife had left earlier so I had the Bronco gear and a helpful buddy lined up to go get them when they got stuck, yes, it's that bad out there!!!!
I hope to get some pics, I'll see how that goes.

Yeah!!! It's going to be all of 12 tonight.
I went out to take pics and almost got stuck just geting out of the drive!!! I hope to have the pics up soon, not sure how well they will show, it was geting dark and the snow had started to taper off, of course!!! I really wanted a good one of the snow coming down sideways.

I have about 2" on the ground, it's blowing here also but nothing like what you are getting Andy. That could change it this tracks right I could get what you have in a few hours.

The snow & wind started here just as I went up a fairly tall White Pine. Tall for here any ways.... I really enjoyed it..... It was surreal. The wind bringing snow racing down off the Flint Hills some 40+ mph with the temp well below freezing.
But there was also a serene, peacefulness for me in this moment of time. With weather putting an end to the buzz of all distant saws working the aftermath of the storm.

I wrestled free a hanger & as I turned to toss it so it would clear the fence below I caught the glimpse of a woman's, wide eyed, smiling face, peering from a second floor window, from the house I was working at. She waved. I did the same in return.

In this moment, working that tree there was a fraction of time where it truly felt as if I was king & there was peace on all of the earth......

Tree Work. I wish to do nothing else!

Wife passes along the sentiment " he was a handsome devil" sorry about the past tense, not sure if she meant it that way. :)

And now, a few pics, like I said, it was getting dark and the snow had let up some, so not the white out conditions earlier, but...................

y'al got a fuel pump in your driveway? shit and shinoodles, dont you go looking for sympathy from lil ole me!
:)

have a safe and happy holiday man!! :D

Man, I'm so glad it doesn't get that cold here. I'd freeze my nuts off.

Our storms come mostly out of the south with high wind gusts to 100 plus, but temperatures seldom below 40. Trees snapped, up rooted and jackstrawed. Always good for a couple weeks of intense sawing.

Poweroutages can be extensive though. Weeks sometimes. City water still runs. That's good. Most people have wood heat.

A lot of people ban together at the pubs where gensets keep lights and tv going, wood stoves to cook food for all. Even at its worst it's really not bad. We're not freezing.

hearts out to you, guys. be careful

And here we go again!!!!!!!
29 when I went to work at 4am. 27 now, thats as hot as it got! Freezing rain coming down now, anything from 3-10 inches tonight!!!!
Guess I need to get up at 2 so I can get to work on time!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRRR, this is getting old!!!

23 here, nothing coming down yet, expecting 1" to 3" of snow tonight, and 1" tomorrow. No big deal for here. Andy you guys are getting blasted out there.
See Ya
Mike

Not yet, it's more of an ice fog right now, but.............

And I love how they say on the news "This is a major developing storm, we will have to wait and see how it's going to track to make any real predictions on this one."
I wish I was kidding, but that was an honest to God qoute from the 6pm news!!!

They don't have a clue, I love it when they say there are different models, and then they give you 3 different predictions. I think they should just use this.

Hey Squishy, did you get a chance to take a closer look at the truck springs today? I'm concerned if you're still working that truck with heavy loads in poor traction if the axle is no longer firmly attached to the truck frame.
:\:

And another false one here!! Maybe two inches on the ground, and it's just about wrapped up. Just enough snow to make it hard to drive, thats about it!

We got a little over 2" still coming down. Might have 3" to 4" before it's over, roads are snow covered and there are wrecks everywhere. They have one of our major highways shut down due to a accident.
See Ya
Mike

Made it to work, took 35 mins. normally takes only 10 to 15. The roads look like a plow hasn't touched them all night. Up to 4"+ now, and it's still snowing, but has slowed down a bunch.
See Ya
Mike
