ok--so a lot of you have been climbing with ropes for while. I personally have never needed to as i just cut whole trees for firewood. Now things are changing--at age 55? Soooooo---anyone can tell me of some good read on the subject? As have people now asking me to trim dead out of their trees. And want some trim work done---as i said to Butch--ive always used spikes, and ladder----

Then read Jerry's book, "The Fundamentals Of General Tree Work."

Trimming is way different than TDing.

The "Tree Climber guide" by Sharon Lily of the ISA is another good one.

The latest edition has some great colored illustrations.

Tree Climbers Companion for sure. Ya Know... after 20 years of climbing I learned things from that book. Sure wish I had started knowing the techniques I know now.

Amazing isnt it?

Ive read it cover to cover a dozen times....
and it seems whenever I do that I discover something I missed before.

I guess what Im saying is- I learn from it everytime I pick it up.
