Any of youins ever use a metal detector like this on residential trees? I am thinking of trying to sell some logs in the future and, not only would it come in handy for that, I am thinking it would help save some saw chains, and my mind from frustration

My bud used to reclaim yellow pine from old building beams. He started trying to use coil type metal detectors. I don't know how he happened on to the wand type, as it was pre-internet days, but he said it worked much better. Wood Mizer might have advised him. He bought the mill new from them.

Ha, I would have never thought to use one for that purpose, great idea! Now I might be able to justify my desire to purchase one. I would love to find some treasure in the sand!!
