Bartering can be great. I once got a Remington 700 chambered in 30-06 with a leupold scope on it for a 20 ft locust removal. The job would have paid me much less that it would cost to buy the rifle. I had an engine put in my chipper last winter after a rod came through the oilpan in exchange for some chipping once the chipper was fixed. Best of all. I give about 2 days of notch and drop work to a 1200 acre conference and retreat facility here in the mountains of PA, in exchange for unlimited use of a cabin, and boat with an engine on the private 260 acre lake there. i will add that they issue less than 30 fishing premits a year on that lake and the fishing beats anywhere i ever went in canada. my point........bartering has worked well for me.

Things I have traded over the years
2 days dead wooding pines got me a 20” catamaran with 12 months berthing
2 days work for got me the rest of the week hunting in the Bavaria.
1 large felling for a full repaint on my Landrover
A cat rescue earned me a year’s fly fishing
