How'd it go today?

I have a bit of a battery cable obsession, which, as obsessions go, isn't the worst thing. I feel that there should only be one style of battery, the 31S, just in five different sizes. ATV, lawn and garden, automotive, truck, and large earthmover.

I have been converting everything I own to 31S, which is the stud type large truck style. I'm done with post and clamp type connections. Studs also give you a good place to add jumper cable wires, which I am also adding to most of my sawmill equipment via Anderson connectors. The alarming part is the cost of good wire.

I got some new shrink tubing in the mail today, which is a new product for me. It's a 3:1 shrink ratio, adhesive lined tubing. 4' each of red and black was like $9. You can see the finished product on the end of the cable I started making tonight. Pretty cool, if you are obsessed like me. :/:
I need to find a bigger box to keep all my parts in. I gathered everything together this evening, and there is quite the pile of stuff, at least more than I realized anyway.

How do you like the crimper? I just bought some 31s batteries. Need to make some cables or order some. Does it go up to 2/0?

The crimper does 1/8" cable up to 600 mcm, so definitely does 2/0. Temco is apparently the legit brand for these things, but the Amazon ones are half the money, and work just fine. You coukd probably find a 6 or 8 ton for $50 to $70 that would work well. Mine is a 16 ton, and overkill for my needs.

I got the Anderson plug installed on the mill this evening. Jumping a Wood-Mizer is a real pita. Not anymore. I think I need to experiment with the different dies for the crimper. They sort of squeeze the edges of the lug out, and make an eccentric hexagon. Otherwise, very happy with everything. I just need to neaten up the cable ties.

Well, we got the bid we were late for, go figure. Also scored two others, and finished the slash and dash near the casino.

Young Buck's mom fed me lunch, green chilli, which was delicious, and I was very grateful, since "home cooked" has become a rarity. Yesterday she fed me too. I think she's fallen on hard times and is living with her son. Good on the boss for taking his mom in, I know they have a rough past.

Passed the wild horses on the way to camp, made Campbell's chicken noodle for supper. It sounded good, but now I'm really hungry again but I don't want to drive. Which dog will win there, I wonder lolz. If I leave this spot, I won't come back tonight, I'll park up closer to town.

Pierce Wash, where I am now, is my favorite for its relative seclusion, while still being close to town. There's two spots out here, which I refer to as "Pierce Proper" and "Wild Horse", and I frequent them both. It was Wild Horse I was chased out of recently. My other haunt is the Fencepost Trailhead, on FSR 50. It's so close to the boss's house that if my truck should decide not to start, I can walk there with plenty of time to spare.

Let the boss run my 500i today, because neither of his saws wanted to start when we were at Hon-Dah last, they dont like the elevation. He really liked it. Said he might get me a set of West Coast dogs for my birthday, I said I need Gordy's air filter and a spark plug lolz. The dogs would be nice though, our ponderosa has some thick bark, and the stock dogs are kind of a joke.
