In Russia, everyone mistakenly calls the silver acacia mimosa. This promotion blooms in early spring. We have a tradition on March 8 (Women's Day) to give women a bouquet of these flowers.

Every spring my dad used to make us go around our property in WA and cut all the flowers/seed pods off and burn them in an effort to keep them from taking over the clearing. The neighbor didn’t so we always had to keep doing it.

Every spring my dad used to make us go around our property in WA and cut all the flowers/seed pods off and burn them in an effort to keep them from taking over the clearing. The neighbor didn’t so we always had to keep doing it.

I had a couple in the yard I was gonna try to keep by cutting before they went to seed, but it ended up being a responsibility I didn't feel like maintaining, so I got rid of them. I still like seeing them at work, and butterflies love them.

Left unattended, they can make a nice meadow or pasture completely unusable. We rogue out any we find posthaste.

That is the Impossible Railroad, which the Goat Canyon trestle is part of, pretty cool…google it when you have plenty of time 🤙🏻
