At this point the full 15 or so acres along our southern flank and on eastward beyond our southeast corner are completely cleared of all trees. There were about a dozen piles of trees, limbs and assorted slash scattered across the open ground, some of which are larger than our house. So far, he has burned a couple of the piles and partially burned a couple more. When the burning was active, the smoke and fallout was heavy, but fairly short-lived. Most of the ground except for the piles has been disced with a large ag tractor and disc rig he got from somewhere.
It does sound like the plan is for planting Christmas trees...one of the kidlets confirmed that in conversation over the fence as she and her sibs walked up their driveway from the school bus.
We can see a few small house lights up there after dark; that's a new bother but pretty minor overall. Can easily see garage, barn, and house in daytime if you want to look; that's new for sure. He's left a few mature trees around the house and barn, so far.
Definitely we are getting more sun through our edge trees than has been the norm for this time of year. That's not all bad now, but as I noted before, come warm weather it may be less pleasant.
That's the current situation. Not as bad as it might be, in general.
