Tree felling vids

I can't believe he didn't winch down - although it sounds like he wasn't doing anything! I didn't hear the engine running!

The first one, Gary. That has no relationship to a barberchair. That's just plain old not accounting for where the stem of a felled tree will likely end up once severed. Just dumb sawmanship.

The second...who can say, from that angle...any number of miscalculations could be the cause. My best guess is that either the load was grossly under-estimated, or the load was not freed. Either way, the crane operator screwed the pooch by not reading the way things were going early enough to boom down, just as Butch posited.

Of course I didn't, ya loony toon :). He said "Not a barberchair but kind of similar...."...I said it wasn't anything like a barberchair, and I'll stand by that statement 'til central Louisiana freezes over:D.

Selective partial quoting is a bad thing, my friend. It is about the same thing as lying. Our politicians of all stripes excel in it.

You are smarter than that.

I have always thought good friends don't let their good friends say dumb stuff without trying to help them see their error...or at least think about it a bit.

And yeah, I always hope a smiley lets the recipient know that my intentions are not meanly based. If that doesn't work for you, I am surely sorry, Butch.

The reason I said, "Not a barberchair but kind of similar...."

1. leaning tree (can contribute to the cause of a BC)
2. tree went where he did not expect it to (BC pieces can go anywhere in the XYZ planes)
3. BC can certainly strike the faller.

that was my reasoning. He got caught by events and forces he did not expect.

Either way, they were good finds, thanks.

The palm tree one is scary, one minute you think he’s ok, the next he’s in the shit.

I cut the stump down a few feet on this one just on the off chance that the next tree hit the stump it wouldn't lift the but.

Man, internet connectivity is a rough go when you live out in the tule berries... the company's gopo has just set in the truck lately, cause I can't get stuff to upload. Here's a cottonwood stem that I felled for another foreman (in vid) on a super gusty day. I was told that all the fruit trees HAD to save out.https://youtu.be/vIUuA2-sIbc

Talk about a lucky shot:lol:... man... it was like I got a micro-calm out of the wind right as the back cut went home. :|:

Hella shot!!!

Looked like it jumped out quite a ways

Nice, concise info re Humboldts
