Perhaps these have already been discussed on this forum but I thought I'd share just in case.

Cool device, but I'd rather have a Wraptor.

Hey Levi - check it out... here's how to embed videos;

1) Do NOT copy/paste the page url.
2) Click the "share" button - a embed button will appear underneath/to the left.
3) Scroll down and click the "embed" button - a blue highlighted address will appear.
4) Copy/paste THAT address in your post.

Butch, got it thanks. Why would you prefer a wraptor to one of these? Other than the price... I was told that they are made primarily for military applications and cost a pretty penny it's hearsay but I heard $20,000 for the nice ones.

They are quite large and expensive, here is how I envisioned using one with the remote control. Imagine a typical SRT setup using a base anchor. Instead of a natural-crotch TIP your rope would run through maybe a ring and ring FS. In place of your belay device or static anchor would be the ascender. You would attach yourself to the bitter/dead end of the rope and use the remote to pull yourself up and down.

I am not savvy with machines and radios in the least, would it be possible/practical to make the wraptor RC?

The Wraptor is only an Ascender. It is not designed for work positioning. Although I may have removed a branch or two while traveling.:/:
I am not sure I would trust life and limb to a remote control. What if you irritate a neighbor and he realizes his garage remote creates interference.:yoyo:

Good point about the RC. It gave me a new idea, instead of the ascender at the bottom you have a winch with a rope that has an internal wire the entire length which terminates in the winch body to relay the signal from climber to winch.

The only way IMO to make a remote control ascender is to go electric. I have toyed with the idea but thats about it so far. The beauty of the Wraptor IMO is its ruggedness and simplicity. I started mocking the other day to a co-worker that we should offer a 5 year warrantee as we have yet to have one break down!!
