I need one of those…

Luckydad do you guys have a crane?

Reg, the first and second pic are very cool. Nice work.

Sure could have used that truck today!

I started the oaks slated for removal today and tomorrow.
A Quercus virginiana I believe ..... They planted them all over this place in all the wrong places. I guess they were supposed to stay small and not break under snow load
Valley oaks apartments shall soon be oak less
Fodder.

Say, Stephen, FWIW I notice you have a lot of crown hopping, lead to lead on removals. I figured out on my last big spreading maple removal that I could cut a notch in a spar top, if I didn't have any crotches left to lower out from SRT, and flick my rope free once I wanted to. This can work if you have been tied into a leader which is stripped, then lower down to the crotch, and dump the spar while tied into another lead. Make an SRT lower-out, readily "retrievable" without a pull-line to uncinch a canopy-tie.

Some people did this notch, old school DdRT for a long time, but he the moving rope lead to it creeping out of a poorly cut notch on the top of the spar, and the climber falling.

It can also simply lead to a closer, temporary high TIP/ Redirection that can help you move through the crown, but then be flicked free.

Thanks Sean.. For the most part I just switch back and forth with Ddrt and SRT with a FS or redirects. You can see in that tree I had a nice high TIP that I could swing about with once the interior was cleaned out. A more spreading tree I would have probably stripped one whole side out to work, depending on my rigging points.
I used two points in this tree and we could switch working ends depending on what we needed. Jut had to go a little lighter on one end due to the angles of the rigging points, one being higher than the other. I could even add a third point if needed. The lamp post bothered me most but was no bother :D

Very nice work. It's amazing where people plant trees, but it's like money in the bank, one day somebody will cash in on their mistakes.

Ray, you should see the one I am removing today... planted right up against a retaining wall. They had a 3 foot strip between the wall and property line... There is a leach field from another property above the trees....
There are about 4-5 planted this way pushing out the retaining wall...

Like I said Stephen, money in the bank, money in your bank! The city here spent a ton of money and planted palm trees directly under the distribution feeder lines. I brought it up and told them in just a few years they would have to be removed because the power company wasn't moving their lines. They said, "we'll worry about it then". Money in my account hopefully.

The Boxer made it maiden voyage this morning. I had to take down a very dead pine under a hill that the Gehl wouldn't be able to get to very efficiently. I cut the sideboards on my trailer so I could load it then load the Boxer on the front. Worked like a charm...

No we don't have a crane. I have a good friend who owns a fair sized crane company we just hire him when the job calls for one. I'm sure we would use one everyday if we had one tho.

Nice work everyone, like the pics Stephen!

My day was deadwooding and getting lil suckers out of 4 Blue oaks, one was over roof for weight reduction, used omni block 1.5 and rigged em out

You can see to far left of pic that dead redwood top...gunna get that little pig next week

Here is a quick video of us chipping some Spruce at our local country club. This chipper is a beast and it is so nice to be able to process larger wood right on site.
