The Official Work Pictures Thread

What I've done there is known as a "hurricane prune." Ignorant folks think it's better to trim off nearly everything since it will prevent them from breaking during storms, and to prolong the time until the next pruning cycle. In reality, it simply starves the plant of food, which is produced by the leaves. As Carl said, this leads to a thinning of the trunk, as well as excess flowering and seed production. Palms grow from the top center, with the older, outer leaves yellowing and eventually dying off. Best practice is to remove the older dead and dying fronds, leaving live fronds at the "9 o'clock and 3 o'clock" positions.
Great post, thx. I'm always interested in all things palm pruning when I'm in FL once or twice/yr

You, my friend, are probably the most observant and attentive guy here. This is a very old television antenna. According to the owner of this house, this antenna was installed in 1965. This worked well until 1992, and then came the era of satellite television. There is a horizontal stripe just below (N2). IMG_0272.jpeg

What's going on below the tree? Kinda looks like a bigfoot carving, but I can't reconcile the top.

We finished spraying for Giant Pine Weevils.
No more 12000 step days with a backpack sprayer.
Now we are dealing with Bracken Fern with scythes............and it is warm.

Got a shitload of logging lined up for summer, that helps :)
