I bent the foot plate on my splitter cracking big rounds of sugar maple. The foot is 1” plate with four 1”x2” flat bars welded to the bottom. It’s some tough wood.

Especially for Burnham, I declare that the spikes were not damaged during operation. There is quite a thick layer of snow and ice here. I've had these spikes for 11 years, they haven't been sharpened just a few times. I know for a fact that Burnham, in addition to the spikes, would anathematize me for the wrong way of saving. But as an intelligent person, he will modestly keep silent :)

Absolutely right Paul, we've been stubbornly slipping for years! Just took a quick suggestion to set us right.

That seep is like that every year, a non freezing spring bubbles out maybe 35' back and makes a crazy layered ice sculpture

Nice Sean! So satisfying to set a spar down inches from a target
