I've recovered far worse before now on peat bog work. That one took 2 hours from delivery of second machine to out. Most of that was digging the exit route.
 
Wow, cant wait to see more pics. Any damage to the machine?

You could have bought the property, kept it buried, and called it the excavator ranch. Like the guy in Texas did with the Caddy.
 
It's always annoying to get an excavator stuck! I got mine stuck a couple weeks digging out a pit where some trees were buried. Drove down in the hole, found a soft spot that got me, it only took ~10 minutes from the time I unloaded the track loader.
 
Let me tell it took me years to get good at shaping, I used to do it without a bucket as well, see that 16' A Frame. Now till christmas thats all I Do is trimming try to push off takedowns till jan-feb to keep work all year
