Rico is a legend. Might only have been his second pro boxing fight and his first was 15 years ago or something.
As I said he is a legend. One of the greatest Heavyweight kick-boxers to ever live. He is no mug and an absolute monster.
Peter Fury trained him for 6 months to get him on the front foot and being more of a boxer. I watched the post fight interview with Peter Fury and he said the only thing Rico did wrong was not clinch and hold on in those final seconds to wind down the clock. That was due to his ring experience.
That being said, the bell had rang to end the round before the ref called a halt so they have grounds for a rematch IMO but they will have lost the element of surprise.
I think Rico did really well and have seen him come back in Kickboxing fights after being laid out from a shin to the temple. He is a tough bugger. He may have been knocked out in the 12 round but he was definitely winning up to that point. He should have at least had a chance.
I know if it had been the other way around they wouldn’t have stopped it. They would have given Usyk the benefit of the doubt and let him go into the final round.
Regarding the talks of conspiracy and boxing corruption, not sure about that. The ref is human and probably didn’t hear the bell go but the fact a kick-boxer was beating one of the best boxers out there certainly makes it look very suspicious.
