The Official Random Video Thread!

Anyway, back to aircraft :)

Can't shoot what you can't catch! Excellent plane; the RR Merlin also powered the latter US P-51 Mustangs.

Just to balance things, here is a great German plane, the Fokker Dreidekker or Triplane .
A replica unfortunately, since only two survived the war, and both were later destroyed.

I wonder what the stalling speed was. 10 miles/hr?

45 mph according to Wiki, with a max speed of 115. 110 horsepower.

Pretty similar to my 172, actually.

You'd think it was slower, with that much wing area.

My kid currently likes this cheeky ladybug.

But does your 172 have twin Spandau MG08's synchronised to fire through the prop? :D

Nope; but I'll admit it's been tempting at times. ;) One of my favorite quips to close-by aircraft in the pattern is to key-up and comment "Too close for missiles... switching to guns."

I'm not too surprised; those wings have very little camber and a low AOA. Best stall speed I've personally experienced was my A-Plane ultralight... Vs was only 23 kts. THAT'S a slow stall speed! TOR to clear a 50' obstacle was about 300'. With 40 degrees flaps down, a full-stop landing could be done in half that distance.

A little longboarding.

That kinda belongs in the politics thread, doesn't it?

If it gets to the point where "they come here", and people will be needing to defend themselves as Wild Bill describes that they are prepared to do, wonder what odds they will be giving in Vegas?

I thought this WAS the thread for silly, moronic, addle-pated videos??? That seems to be the consensus. Just trying to fit in...

Depends on what state they invade. ;)

I guess I'm the only one who would say Wild Bill has a few valid points.

I think that Bill somewhat underestimates that dudes with guns can be formidable, no matter what side that they might be on. Throw in some experience, which the enemy he speaks of does have a bit of, and even more so. Not saying that defending the homeland wouldn't inspire, but best to be practical along with the emotional element. Not a wrestling show.

I'd have no problem killing someone who tries to harm me, my family, or any other innocent victim. I don't care where they come from, across the ocean or across the street. I have the knowledge, the willingness, and the firepower. And that doesn't make me a bad Christian, but a good citizen.

On the way to church last week, my wife asked me if I was carrying a gun. I thought maybe she would give me some grief about it since we were going to church and all. I told her, no, I have two guns. She smiled and said, good. God, I love her! :)

An old Massachusetts blue law actually required men to carry arms to church. No shit.
