Someone on facebook posted that their truck driver got a pair of edelrid talon spurs for cheap, and some guy had to reply with a picture of his SRT gear trying to act like big boy tree guy (I think he just doesn't know how to use spurs)

Missing the mark round here, kiddo. Spurs suck. I look at them with dread. I like leaving the death spikes at home as often as possible. You don't spike trees you ain't killing, and I like trees to live. Same for most folks. Also, a number of members are pioneers in SRT techniques and gear. Wrong audience for that joke.

Any gaff guards?
I've taped garden hose straps to gaff points for storage.

If possible, SRT, then switch to gaffs. Rope walking with death spikes would shred my calves lolz.

I do this often, the ropewalking with spikes part isn't fun but doable, generally I just wear a foot ascender with my right spike and call it good enough
