The Joke/Funny Pic/Video Thread

Imagine all the friction and wear with that rope against wood, and seemingly sharp angles too for the ropes to slide around.

Eh, it's not that bad. Deadeyes are rounded, and oiled, and likely even completely penetrated with linseed oil and wax. Those are also for the standing rigging, so they aren't adjusted very often at all. It's the exact same thing as our modern rigging rings, just predating them by a few millennia. You can easily (not exactly quickly) make a few of them, they work better than you would think. Elm is often used for them, as is hard maple, but you could probably use polyethylene just as well, especially if you watched your sun exposure. Since the advent of the high modulus fibers such as amsteel, they have made a comeback for standing rigging again, because they are lighter and more secure than a turnbuckle. What was once old is new again.

My friend, as a teenager, used to get the dog all riled up about the mailman.
Only house with curbside mail delivery instead of front door delivery in the town, due to too many chases. HAHAHA
One day he dressed up like the mailman and rang the doorbell.
The dog was so confused, his favorite person in the whole world was now a mailman.
