I had a starter rope break on me the other day. I always keep two or three spares in the truck so it was just a matter of about five minutes getting the saw back in action. The spares I had were a bit short (24”…not sure why they were cut so short). It worked but I had to be careful not to pull to the end and stress it. Anywho…I was looking on Amazon the other day and found the exact same cord as the saw shop sold me…except it was MUCH cheaper. Here’s the link if anyone is interested. Twelve meters for less than $8. I want to say the shop charged me that much for two.

Stuff is cheaper on the Internet shocker!

On the other hand when all the shops are shut because everything is bought cheaper off the internet, you can just shut the job down for 24 hours till the parcel arrives.

What’s even more shocking is that I’d prefer to buy ten starter ropes for a better price than I can buy two, and I actually thought someone else might want to do the same. If you prefer to pay more, be my guest.

I keep spare starter ropes, spark plugs, bar nuts, bars, and chains on hand to help alleviate time-loss breakdowns.

for sure.

frustrating for me is that a lot of shops don‘t stock items but order it themself.

i happily pay more (than internet priices) for stuff they keep in stock

I needed 1or 2 extra safety glasses.

I could buy one at Depot for 5 bucks and it wasn't the ideal shape/style, or buy 15 better ones on Amazon for $17.

I went for the 15 and gave some pairs away.

While that sounds just like something I’d do, it will get you shamed in some circles. 🤣
