Ebay is great for figuring out the price of an item that you might run across in your every day life, I usually add the Buy it now price with the shipping cost, divide by 3 and that's the real price one should pay for an item.... :P
 
Speaking of rigging, my 5/8 stainless block with a spliced 5/8 20 foot sling just happened to vanish like a ghost.
 
Butch, your post reminds me, did anyone catch the last episode of Deadliest Catch? The one where the CM was snapping it's lines at the dock in high winds. . . Anyways, the big Blue I'm assuming Amsteel slings were the ones that were popping. You could see the older poly rigging flex, and the blue lines would just pop apart. Just a real world demonstration of what we already knew. . .

...seems hooks and blocks of all sizes and types are in good supply which makes good prices. Lots of rope as well.
 
Can't be much left in your shop then. Keeping China-clean is an impossible task.
