Raising steer for meat?

Grass finished beef is an acquired taste I guess, I just haven’t acquired it yet. To each their own.

I have a friend raising organic grass fed beef down towards NYC. Middletown area - where the Orange County Chopper guy is based.

I have not been able to try his beef but they look mighty nice. He makes balage from pretty rich hay fields so not really grass. Legumes have a lot more nutrition. He does rotational graze in the summer but his stored feed is top quality. Not some old dried out grass.

You would not believe the price they command. Keziahlain Farm. They are on the web. They were getting $6+ hanging weight in 2021. $8 for burger.

Sure would like to try some and visit again. He used to make cheese. Best I ever had.

A friend used to shoot a buffalo every year. Free range on 20k acres in SD (indian reservation).
You are what you eat.....the bison spent its life on the prarie eating crap grass and sagebrush. Tasted like shit, no thank you very much.
