I have a little chinese elm to prune, max 30'x20'
It has put on a lot of growth this summer due to good rain last year and over the winter.
It just needs some length taken off the ends of the limbs, they are drooping quite a bit, showing some strain and getting into the gutters, there is also some structural stuff to do, crossing, rubbing and a bit of thinning down low where it is very thick.
Less than 25% of live foliage
Cuts would be no bigger than 2"
Its mid summer here, I'd like to do it now...any objections?

No problem doing it all year here either.

With the heavy rain we get this time of year they really droop and limbs tend to break quite often.

Yup. They are a super hardy tree around here, they'll take anything at anytime. Around here they are kept from hedgerows to quite large specimen trees and every form of abuse in between. They are a bread and butter tree for me.

Cool!
Yes Reb...the wet has caused quite a bit of droop, and some of the limbs are not that thick, not a lot of taper.
I'll get 'em before they break.
