Need help selecting the right rope

You ARE my brother! I really do not like ladders either...bad dangerous things.

I use a 25' extension ladder a lot. Its the easiest way into the bottom of the canopy if you can get to the branches. Just use a safety of some sort. If you're spurring clear trunk, its maybe a waste, but otherwise, I like to save energy when I can, especially when I want to do a whole bunch of canopy raising in a day.
 
Something you might want to consider if you can find one(look over on Archery Talk) is a Rescue One CDS harness- it has a rappel rack built in so no worries about suspension trauma. One you deploy this system you can repack and live to tell your story. I hunt with a Guidos Web and have hunted from this kind of stand for years- I would never go back to a platform or ladder stand.
