Killin position ivy

Do you ever apply chemicals to a toxicodendron to kill it and keep it off a tree.

The only access to the Ivy is as it emerges out of the center of the trunk about 20’ up. I can’t get to roots. Anything I can apply to the vine itself? Garlon?

Garlon will definitely kill the poison ivy. Use it sparingly and only on the cut vine or you might kill the tree as well.

Full strength Roundup

As a top down eradication, I cut a 10" or more length of the vine, I drill a hole and inject full strength roundup with a syringe. It is not instant but it dies within a year. To kill what is going up, I drill small holes sideways. It takes time which not every client wants to pay for.
