i bought the winch for 200 pound so 300 bucks from ebay then welded and drilled the base plate which i had pieces of scrap metal laying around in the garage

cheers just 2 ratchet straps one on the bottom and one on top works nice and sterdy

I think the base plate should be rectangular for stability.
